Subject: BS: Rules for Being Human From: autolycus Date: 17 Jan 07 - 12:33 PM A couple of catters appreciated me posting these. i t occurred to me to make a thread of it so more people see it. According to the source,Living in Time by Paulden Jenkins, the following is copyright-free. Rules for Being Human 1. You will receive a body. You may like it or hate it but it will be yours for this time around. 2. You will learn lessons You are enrolled in a full-time informal school called life. Each day in this school you will have the opportiunity to learn lessons. You may like the lessons or think them irrelevant or stupid. 3. There are no mistakes only lessons. Growth is a process trial and error:experimentation. The failed experiments are as much a part of the process as the experiment that lands up working. 4. A lesson is repeated until learned. A lesson will be presented to you in various forms until you jave learned it. When you have learned it, you can then go on to the next lesson. 5. Learning lessons does not end. There ois no part of life that does not contain lessons. If you are alive, there are lessons to be learned. 6. 'There' is no better then 'Here'. When your 'there' has become 'here', you will simply obtain another 'there' which will again look better than 'here'. 7. Others are mirrors of you. You cannot love or hate something about another person unless it reflects to you something you love or hate about yourself. 8. What you make of life is up to you. You have all the tools and resources you need - what you do with them is up to you. The choice is up to you. 9. The answers lie inside you. All you need to do is look, listen and trust. 10. You will forget all this ! Ivor |

Subject: RE: BS: Rules for Being Human From: Bee Date: 17 Jan 07 - 02:39 PM I think there are a great many 'here's' in the world where I would think some of those rules insufferably smug. |

Subject: RE: BS: Rules for Being Human From: Slag Date: 17 Jan 07 - 02:57 PM That seems to me a very limited rule book, especially #7. We, in the physical, consist of genetic predispositions as well as a lot of "write only" space. It is largely we who reflect our local cultural values, mores, etc. When we come to identity, usually in our teen years, all the input is internalized, sublimated. The less-than-aware think they have figured everything out on their own and adopt a "mirror" mentallity. Mirror mentallity really means that "YOU" are the center of the universe. There are things I see in others I admire greatly but I know that it is not for me or my temperment. There are things I see that I do want to emulate; some I can, some I can't. I have seen great and heartless evil in some and becuase I am aware of this it must mean that there is great and heartless evil in me??? I think NOT! I make choices. But I also have to play the cards dealt to me and that means an interaction between ALL the elements and limitations of my life. If I have sufficient drive and a little creativeness I can overcome much and accomplish much, if I choose to do so. But your list is thought provoking and you doo make some valid observations. Thanks. I'll think a little more and may be back! |
