We were able to wander round the Town Hall on Saturday afternoon and look at all the stalls there and nobody asked to see a ticket at all. Shame I had to miss the evening sing, but the Friday one was also up to Merek an Dary's usual high standard.

I only do the ceilidhs despite being able to commute. I agree about the poor stallholders - if I wanted to join-in the free session I would need a more general ticket and not the ceilidh ticket. When the ceilidh was in the Town Hall I could join the free session and peruse the stalls.

The ceilidh venue is sumptious but sadly a bit small for the popularity of the dance. We had problems getting there on time (you really really don't want details) but noticed a lot of dancers arriving later and quite a few leaving before the end. But the dance floor was still full - self-regulating I guess.

Only one ceilidh (the Aqua was cancelled) is a serious miscalculation.

Grump. Stall holders denied access by punters still the case two years on. Having been a full Season ticket holder in the past and took time to complete questionare etc ,still no changes ! If as a day visitor I have to pay a full days ticket for two to visit stall holders for one hour ,they are being conned on the price of their pitch! I will never buy a ticket for Cheltenham on principle.       On the posotive DEREK MARY SING at The Bell brill ,and worth the 200 mile return trip .Booked in at The Bell for next year though. Home next day after kip then!

Brill Sing on Saturday evening well-run & up to Merek'n'Dary's usual fine standards. Some excellent songs and singers - well worth the 4 hour round trip. Definitely not driving back after next year's though, may actually get to see a bit more of the festival!!

Just got back home to Bath. Was good to see a few familiar faces. My only festival until Gosport & Fareham at Easter then Chippenham, Wimborne and Cambridge in the summer.

Giving Sidmouth a miss this year. Going to Wickham instead in August as their line-up is fab. Then Broadstairs and Bromyard as usual. And that will be it for another year.

Looking forward to seeing all our mudcat friends at our sing at the Bell. Due to popular request this now runs on Friday and Saturday nights from 8.00 pm. And you certainly don't need tickets for this one!

I've just heard that it is likely that the entry to the singarounds wont be restricted to ticket holders only, so hopefully Snuffy and others will join us.

I know they don't want people wandering round the building at will, so I'm not sure how this will be organised. I will try and have a chat with John S on Friday night and pass on the information at Derek and Mary's sing.

The food at the Town Hall is crap and VERY expensive, but just round the corner is a Wetherspoons with reasonabel food at reasonable prices

Ruth, it is a nice town to 'mooch about in'. There is food at the Town Hall itself. Sorry I can't help with info about other places to eat.

They never asked for tickets at the Town Hall on Sunday lunchtime, but that was an emergency move from the little theatre anyway.

I had hoped to get a ticket with Black Jack, but they've pulled out.

I tried! Honest I did! The last I heard was that the issue of tickets 'was being discussed by the committee'. I don't hold out much hope, but I'll post here if I get any news (that's if I can get on line!!)
I seem to remember you came along last year (when we got moved to the room with the 'incontinence flooring'.) Did you have a ticket then or did they let you in without one?

We're going! Managed to book a very sweet little hotel just round the corner from the town hall, and only last week.

Never been to Cheltenham, so looking forward to mooching round the town as well. Any top recommendations for places to eat?

Anyone going to Cheltenham Folk Festival this year? (16th-18th February)

Derek and Mary run a great sing in the Bell Inn, Bath Rd from 8pm Fri and Sat evenings, which is free and open to all.

This year there's going to be a 'space to sing' during the day too.
The YMCA Chapel in Vittoria Walk will be available to sing in on Saturday from 11.00am to 6.00pm and on Sunday from 11.30am to 4.00pm.
The main singarounds are scheduled from 11-12.30 and 4.30-6 on Saturday and 12-3 on Sunday.

There are also musicians sessions in the Town Hall on Friday from 8pm and from noon on both Sat & Sun.

The Chapel and the Town Hall are likely to be day and weekend ticket holders only.

There are plenty of guests too – see   www.cheltenhamtownhall.org.uk

Hope to see some people there.
