Was a certain moped riding tv chef seen in the vicinity of Holton recently? Discuss......
The Avian 'flu epedemic was discussed on Jeremy Vine's radio show today. He slipped up,referring to Bernard Manning. It caused Mumblin' Len and I to reflect on this scenario.

Bird 'flu breaks out at Batley Variety Club. Bernard Manning says... "It's ok, none of the blokes has got it."

Those poor turkeys - their lives were cut tragically short. They didn't even make it to next Thanksgiving/Christmas*.

I agree with Scrump - although goodness knows what the quality of their lives must have been in those sheds.

Those turkeys wouldn't have made it that far anyway. Christmas turkeys are hatched in the summer and get fattened up for the beginning of December. The ones culled this weekend were probably the Easter stock.

Does the verse;

Now our Norfolk turkeys are simply the best,
They sure knock the stuffing out of the rest
And if you tried one I'm sure that you would
Agree that our turkeys are Norfolk and good.

now have to be omitted from The Kipper Family's 'We're Norfolk And Good'?

No Johnny me boy, it was Arthur Carlson who said it. I was Les who did the "News ala Hindenburg" style call of the event with lines like, "They're hitting the ground like sacks of wet cement!" and the classic "Oh the humanity, I can't watch" or to that effect.

Still one of my all time favorite TV episodes ever, any series, any time.

No, because these turkeys were in Suffolk not Norfolk. They were just owned by Bernard Matthews.

The Norfolk turkeys are still "Norfolk and Good" so we can still sing about them.

(Shouldn't this thread be called "One Flu Over The Turkey's Nest"?)

What I want to know is, why do the Staffordshire people want all these turkeys?

Yes it should,Scrump, I obviously suffered from fat-finger syndrome, or more possibly, brain cell deficiency. It's obvious why they want them in Staffordshire.... for Pottery Boilers. Liz, I thought they'd be the Easter stock also.
