Subject: All-purpose C&W song From: Roger the zimmer Date: 24 Mar 99 - 05:49 AM C&W is one of my least favourite genres (tho' I have been known to sing "Your cheatin' heart") and I like the old joke about playing a C&W record backwards when your dog comes to life, your truck starts and your woman comes back but I remember in the mists of time (ie 1960's or 1970's) Ian Cambell doing an all-purpose C&W song that he said made it unneccessary to sing any other- it had all the elements of dog, wife and apple pie etc. It is not on any of the Campbell's records I have ( and I've checked the Corries ones as well in case I'd misremembered the concert). Does anyone else remember it? |

Subject: RE: All-purpose C&W song From: catspaw49 Date: 24 Mar 99 - 09:23 AM Many moons ago I heard Steve Goodman himself do it on a TV program and busted a gut laughing. Wish I could remember the program because it was a funny and kinda' strange thing too. Must have been PBS. Very loosely produced and directed. It was Steve Goodman, Hoyt Axton, and Arlo together...what a group! catspaw |
