Subject: Year of The Pig
From: Alec
Date: 17 Feb 07 - 07:22 AM

In Chinese reckoning today is the last day of The Year of The Dog and tomorrow is the first day of The Year of The Pig.
I always think that starting the Year at a time when winter is on the wane & the hours of daylight are obviously increasing is in some ways more Logical than sticking it a week and a half after the Winter Solstice.
No matter.
May I take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy New Year?

As I ought to have done with this thread.

Bubblyrat - I was born the same year! I think there was a bad winter as well in '47, at least in the UK.

My brother was born in '47, which makes it a pretty good year in my book. He's a real sweetie.

On the other hand, that was also the year my ex-husband was born. The less said the better about that.

Years
1923, 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007, 2019, 2031

Pig personality traits
Intellectually curious, honest and tolerant, those born in the Year of the Pig can be relied upon for their loyalty and often make true friends for life.

Like the knights of old, Pigs are often highly regarded for their chilvary and pureness of heart, and will often sacrifice their own well-being for the greater good.

The Pig can be very naive, however, and may easily fall victim to the unscrupulous who take advantage of their idealistic nature - as Pigs see everyone as loyal and caring as they are. Although forced to play the fool many times, they will just as likely hold fast to the notion that everyone is at heart decent and admirable.

Stubbornly optimistic, the Pig will not tolerate those with well-meaning advice on how to be a Pig, but since they dislike quarreling and discord their anger usually cools quickly. Sometimes looked upon as a snob, the Pig just finds it right and natural to exhibit good manners whenever possible. Their main goal in life is in serving others, and no matter how difficult circumstances become the Pig will never waiver or retreat, forging ahead in the sure knowledge that all will be well.

Pig people love to read, are generally thirsty for knowledge, and not readily talkative, but if presented with an opportunity to discuss topics of interest with like-minded individuals Pigs may find themselves talking non-stop for hours!

People born in the Year of the Pig are trusted associates in whatever career they happen to choose and often shine as entertainers, social activists or politicians.

Pigs are most compatible with : Rabbit, Sheep

Famous people born in the Year of the Pig : Lucille Ball, Humphrey Bogart, Thomas Jefferson, Ernest Hemingway, Alfred Hitchcock, Mahalia Jackson, David Letterman, Arnold Schwarzenegger

Eh Jimlad8 your are the sign of the Snake!

See if you want a swap...*grin*

People born in the Year of the Snake are deep. They say little and possess great wisdom. They never have to worry about money; they are financially fortunate. Snake people are often quite vain, selfish, and a bit stingy. Yet they have tremendous sympathy for others and try to help those less fortunate. Snake people tend to overdo, since they have doubts about other people's judgment and prefer to rely on themselves. They are determined in whatever they do and hate to fail. Although calm on the surface, they are intense and passionate. Snake people are usually good-looking and sometimes have martial problems because they are fickle. Corresponding Western sign is Taurus.

The solution to the Snake's problem is not to date more than one soldier at a time ...

Alba

You have copied my CV word for word ya bugger.

However I think that there possibly a "freudian slip' in your thread. If you really meant 'martial problems you are 100% correct. My family are world famous for being 'martially challenged' We are a long established line of 'Jacket Holders' and have held the jackets of such famous people as King Harold,Richards I an III,Lord Nelson,Davy Crockett and many more heroes, alas all dead !!.
But if you really meant 'Marital" then I will deliver to you a fat lip, especially so if you are a girl.
In 42 years I have been chaste but none could catch me.
The good looking part is correct though in fact I am often compared to George Clooney or was it George Formby they said.

Jan 1948 is the year of the pig(or Boar)and is a Fire Pig.

1941 is the Year of the Snake (metal sort) unless born before 27th Jan. when it was the end of the Year of the Dragon (metal variety.)

I had a happy afternoon with my friend at lunch which was exquisite. After a generous intake of excellent alcohol I went chasing lions down Shaftesbury Avenue and got lucky - I found a beautiful beaded yellow dragon.

The Dalai Lama is also a pig. Incidentally, Tibetan New Year (Losar) was also on the 18th and follows the same astrological signs.

My friend is born in the year of the Pig so she's supposed to have a really good year.
