crayford arms 2009

Well following the first folk day at crayford arms, another is on the cards for april 26th i think . Its gonna be a beer festival proper, with as much singing dancing and joviality as you can muster, it will be a st georges day theme, with roast beef and yorkshire puds, for the folks as turn up, beers at present unknown, but shep neame said that they will provide more this time, so put your drinkin heads on.
its hoped you morris sides out there will be turning up as crayford (home of the gongscourers) is fast becoming so morris friendly, Seamus says hes coming just for the beer, the ferrets are already planning another sing around, so come on put it in your diaries and come make it better than last time,

Hi Romany

Will try to be there. Maybe a PM to Kev the Clogs and any other Morris people on the Mudcat will get more response?

A bit of information for those of us who don't even know where the Craven Arms is, might help.

Crayford Arms is a pub in Crayford near London. Hosted a folk day with Morris Sides, horse and trap rides, folk musicians and singers session and cute little ferrets, with proceeds going to Damelza House (charity for sick children).

here is link to the first thread.

Romanyman owns the horse and ferrets and arranged the whole event.

I was completely innocent of this super market product, until Otford beer festival. Where my mandolin was requested to try, and then it was returned covered in the appli-named product. As the poor mandolin
was straight out of the case, I thought it was unfare to make such
derogatory statements.
Now I will certainly stick to a natural product infuture.

We'll be there to help Fisheye and Essex girl fly the Folkmob flag and will probably bring Grandson Louis again who is now obsessed with ferrets, we were hoping to get him interested in the music, but I suppose folk with a ferret slant is a start. We enjoyed the 9th November it was a good afternoon, great atmosphere and lovely beer, maybe in April we'll get a bit of sunshine too.

The crayford arms session will be all day from 10am, till the fat lady sings, morris sides, singers all are welcome, there will be food and lottsa real ales, as the arms now stocks more real ales than any pub in the area, a really apprieciative pub that cant get enough of folk and morris, not many pubs can say that, those that have not been before are assured that the arms really wants us there, they love it, so as an aside most of the dosh they make on these folk days goes to demelza house, not in the pockets of landlord,

The crayford arms bash is 25th april all day till the doors get locked and then on till ya can take no more, not the 28th of march not any other time day zone region area .
Ive written this slowly for those that have trouble reading fast.
All are welcome loadsa real ales, plenty of grub, a warm welcome morris sides more than welcome, it will follow the same as last time, no proggrame no set time to dance play whatever just a good day pre season for the dancers.

Right I will not be going to Upnor because it is a Morris venue pub stand.on the 25th April

which i got from a Morris paper given to me at folkmob the other night.

I will be coming to Crayford. where gladly we will be following the same routine has last year but with out the Bishop Gundul"fs Morris who were there last year but wont be there on the 25th April because they are at Upnor doing the above. SORTED.

I have opened up me own thread about all this confusion.
Ok Romany Man I now understand your frustration with me.
Whata Par-larva. Remember though I am a newbie to all this and dont wish to go galavanting all over North Kent for nothing.

Not another mention about Upnor on this thread I promise.

End of Subject.
Do you want some posters for the event like last time? If so I will do them tonight and post them to the pub on Tuesday.

Sorry folks been away from this ere techno box of the devil for a while, in fact been so wrapped up in other things its been a nightmare. Well all is on for the 25th of april, for those that missed the last one, it is a day of relaxed no pressure music and dance, there is no time table for anyone to keep to, the grub is usually plentfull, the beer will be real ales of various breweries, as the arms now is a real ale pub, the room upstairs will be available for the people that want to sing and play, the whole pub is a folk friendly area, in fact the last one acrually closed the pub over the road as everyone was in the arms, so come one come all, its a saturday, so no work next day, apart from me having to tend to the horses as usual, i may even bring seamus again, who knows.

Just come so far three morris sides, musicians will of course be more than welcome as the last bash showed, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, easy transport , easy to find, lock ins are the norm for those that can take it, several real ales also the norm as the crayford arms sells more real ales as standard than any other pub in the area, also they have a dedicated room upstairs that is available at any time for those that want a venue to call there own. the offer has been there for some time but no one seems to want to use it. perhaps it needs to be. dunno up to you im no musician. so the twenty fith is on come or dont your choice ,

Sorry couldn't make this one all the water in my Fish pond drained out over the Friday night and I had to both make haste and rig up a alternate accommodation for my nearly dead pond life which do not just include fish it includes Frogs and newts Plants etc. In the end I cleaned out and filled up two Wheelie bins with water and bunged them all in them, Where they will have to be content until Thusday Until I can get a replacement pond base.I have had to Chain the bins to the down pipes in me garden so has to remind me Irish upstairs neighbors not to put the bins out for the dustmen in the morning for emptying.
Bloody Par-larva

Im sure there will be a couple more Crayfords coming up later this year.

The landlady of the Crayford Arms has asked me to let you know about a couple of things.....
a) They would like to have another Folk Day on Sat 12th September... All morris sides welcome.
b) They have a guy called Andy Owen singing this weekend at 5.30. Unfortunately she ommitted to write down if it was Saturday or Sunday and I've forgotten so check before you go. Apart from the usual real ales they also have Iceberge & Black Sheep
