Lyr Req: Miss Sally Ann

I asked this as a guest back a week ago...I don't think there was one nibble...I got logged in as myself now and ask again...this was a great song. Is there anyone out there that's ever heard it or was this truly the creation of the person I heard singing it...and it's lost like a soap bubble in the stream of the folk tradition............???????

Back in the fall of 1965 at Amherst College I heard a talented freshman sing this song with guitar accompaniment. I remember only a beginning and a bit of the end, though I do remember the tune. Here goes:

Walking down the street, I chanced to meet
Miss Sallyyyyyyyyyy Ann,
She was a hip-swinging blue-eyed blonde
for every lovin' man
I said, "Sweet Sal.
be a honey, be a pal,
give me joy, gimme fun,
show me sweet Momma just how it done"

Well, she winked a wink of
her blue false eyelashed eye
and I knew right then
I was her man

< and that's what I remember of the beginning...I have just a bit of the memorable ending>

'Til the very next morning
she was the Devil's daughter
and I couldn't pass water

Anyone have the song complete? The tune has a swinging, stomping beat

I have checked all my usual sources and have been unable to identify any song that fits your description. I have a couple of suggestions, though.

1. Allmusic.com lists no song called MISS SALLY ANN; however, there are about 210 recordings called SALLY ANN. You might try listening to samples to see if you recognize any of them.

2. You could write to the Amherst alumni magazine (I assume there is such a thing). Maybe someone could identify the singer. Then maybe you could contact the singer directly.

Good luck!

Long long ago (1965) I heard a fellow college freshman sing this song. I can only remember the opening:

Walking down the street I chanced to meet,
Miss Sally Ann,
She was a hip-swingin blue-eyed blonde
for every lovin' man
I said sweet Sal,
Be a honey, be a pal
Show me sweet Mama
just how it's done

Well she gave me a wink
of a blue eyelashed eye....

...after that I can only remember

She was the Devil's daughter and
I couldn't pass water.

Anyone have it complete?
