This one?

Tony Cuffe Sae Will We Yet on YouTube (click "more" for the words).

This site http://www.traditionalmusic.co.uk/folk-song-lyrics/Sae_Will_We_Yet.htm credits Walter Watson/Tony Cuffe - did Tony Cuffe put the tune(/chorus?) to Watson's poem.

I used to live just north of Watson's home area (Kirkintilloch/Campsies, north-east of Glasgow) but never heard of him. Some of the poem and song titles here (POEMS AND SONGS by WALTER WATSON - THE CHRYSTON POET ) seem familiar, however.

Can't figure out if Tony Cuffe made the tune or adapted an existing one. Where did you find the link between this and "The Newcastle Worthies", Conrad?

Also, you appear to have contributed an ABC version of the (a?) tune to this thread:- thread.cfm?threadid=3667

Higher up in that same thread, Joe Offer suggests "The Wearing of the Green" as the tune. It would fit, but it's not the tune Tony Cuffe is singing.

According to the Roud index, the only printed version of the tune is the one in Polwarth, which as Ross said above, you yourself posted in the thread he linked.

There is a one verse recording at the School of Scottish Studies site: Sae Will We Yet - Willie Mathieson.

As I said in a similar thread, the tune Tony Cuffe sang this song to was his own, as he did for several other songs in "Ord's" which didn't have tunes attached. The song became popular, at least in Scotland, after he recorded it on the first "Jock Tamson's Bairns" LP, released in 1980. It was also included in Tony's "memorial" CD, titled "Sae Will We Yet", which came out in 2003.

Tony Cuffe's tune is quite recent of course.

The song and tune from John Greig's Scots Minstrelsie(1895) can be found here: Scots Minstrelsie Vol6 (see pages 375-377; click on the thumbnails for the full image). The tune is not the same as the Polwarth version above.

A broadside (1869) can be seen here: We've Aye Been Provided For - Poet's Box; the tune to be used is give as original

Ord (1933), as Joe said in the other thread, specifies The Wearing of The Green.

(I still don't know what the earliest tune reference is).
