There are dozens of emigration songs in this area made by unnamed local people, about having to leave home - we named our CD of Clare singers, 'Around the Hills of Clare' after one of them. The reference to Miltown (Milltown) suggests that it could have come from around here and, like so many other local songs, never moved anywhere else. The lady who asked for it is a local publican, but she was following an inquiry from a customer from Cork, so it could be from there - or from Kerry, of from any of the half dozen other Counties with a Milltown.
