Little Boy Fishin' by Shirley Abicair.

"We settled on "Willie Can" and recorded it with George Martin at Parlophone. George Martin, too, had got the message, and his warm, silent understanding and musicianship was right with us when I recorded "Smiley" and "Little Boy Fishin'" which followed in the summer.

"The Fisherman Song", sung by Judy Collins and the Anything Muppets on Sesame Street in 1972.

Robert Rixby and Thomas Doubleday wrote a number of songs about fishing, many of which appeared in their book "The Fisher's Garland", printed in 1823. The pair were from Newcastle. One song, "Coquet Side" can be heard on the CD "The Quiet Hills" (Kyloe CD105), sung by local shepherd Graham Dick.

Ballad of the Chivalrous Shark. Although in this day and age, not many people seem to understand the difference between "man" (= animal species Homo Sapiens) and "man" (= adult male human), on which the joke depends.

The goldfish one (round and round and round) I heard Judy Cook sing as alternate lyrics to Auld Lang Syne, not a hymn, but same funny effect (particularly since that's one song folks can seldom get past the first verse)
