Sid Valley Radio Folk Show had a track last night from The Kitchen Girls. It was an old time American tune, and we assume they were American. However they don’t come up on a Google search.
Anyone know who they were?

I am fairly certain there was a group of that name playing in the Kings Heath area of Birmingham UK which I believe included Pam Bishop, a fine traditional musician who still plays in the local area. From memory it was around the late 80s when I first heard them. Could it be them?

Further to my last post, information about Pam Bishop which mentions the Kitchen Girls can be found if you look up "Pam Bishop Folk Musician". She has made a significant contribution to folk music in the Midlands and further afield!

They were on Folk on 2 in May 1995 and they were doing some American tunes including "waiting for the fedrals".

Their postal address on the album was Milton Keynes

The Webfeet dancing website also list a 1995 cassette of The Kitchen Girls, "Six Assorted Tarts" which includes the track "Waiting for the Federals" that Robin mentioned.

No personnel listed but the site desicribes them as a ceilidh band with a Pan North American mix (including Appalachian clog, Cajun and line dance).

Looks like I've mentioned the wrong "Kitchen Girls". Sorry!
