pg13 Healing Thoughts? Fuck Off

Subject: HEALING THOUGHTS? FUCK OFF
From: GUEST

My brother is dead

He was on floor 32-A at the Trading Centre

How useful are your good thoughts now?

Didn't work did they?

Your new age crap can go to hell.

My brother's dead

Guest, I wish you had identified yourself. Perhaps you have a good reason for not doing so, but because you didn't, people won't know whether to take your post seriously or not. If your post is real. I'm sorry you lost your brother.

If it is not, then you should find a good deep hole to crawl into. Flaming on a tragic day such is this is a despicable act.

Perhaps it is enough that the Guest had a place to express that thought, and perhaps it needs no response.

I too am very sorry to hear about your brother.

Sounds like peoples good thoughts are not much comfort to you now. Good thoughts may be completely useless to you.

Their thoughts were probably wishes that what happened to your brother didn't happen even though we had evidence that people were suffering and dying. Yes there is something illogical about wishing that evidence of a tragedy is not true. However, there is also something human about not wanting to believe the worst. Today was one of the worst.

Don't worry about identifying yourself. That is a stupid issue for anyone to bring up when you are hurting badly. Go with your feelings and do whatever you wish.

If you want to write to me without identifying yourself, write to: dew000@yahoo.com

That's dew with 3 zeros at yahoo dot com. Cut and paste works.

I think GUEST's post does require a respectful response. If (s)he is telling us the truth, then (s)he is in anguish. if (s)he is flaming, it is still true that someone has lost a brother today, and the following is addressed to that someone:

My deepest sympathy to you, GUEST, in the loss of your brother. I know it's no comfort to you today, but my thoughts are with you.

I hope this is a flame...and a sick one. No lists have been issued yet of confirmed dead. And most people below the 65th Floor got out in time. Of course, not all were able to leave the area in time. If you lost your brother, I am sorry. There isn't much else I can say.

I may still be in shock, but I can't find it in me to hate the people who did this. Sorrow, anger, pity, shock, maybe hatred will come later.

Some idiot politician was on TV in the last hour blaming all of this on United and American for faulty security. When it was pointed out to him that two cell phone calls from the plane that crashed in Pennsylvania stated that the hijackers used knives and box cutters, he fumbled.

NY will recover. Washington will recover. The nation will recover. That is the sweetest revenge - to just go on.

There were people dead before any of us heard. Our thoughts & prayers have indeed been for the anguish of those who have lost family members... It could have been me.

Nothing wrong with being damned angry as a first reaction.

Peace.

Subject: RE: HEALING THOUGHTS? FUCK OFF

Healing thoughts aren't always for the 'victims'. In the wake of every death there will be a number of lives who need 'healed.'

My grandfather died a couple months back. I was one of the ones in the room when they pulled the plug on his life support. He was beyond the reach of any healing thoughts at that point, but the room was full of other people who really did/do need the compassionate, healing thoughts, and who have yet to grieve, let alone heal.

My sympathy/compassion/caring "healing thoughts" don't go to those who have died, but to those who have lost. Including the Guest.

Am I the only one who wonders why this person failed to identify him/herself? It hasn't occured to anyone else that he/she might be only taking a shot at the healing threads?

Some of you are quick as hell to condem those who do not identify themselves when posting, but because of the terrible thing that happened today, you are perfectly willing to post messages of sympathy to an unknown poster!

I don't get it.

It could very well be a wind-up and a shot at the healing threads, DougeR, but this time it just doesn't seem worth it. So far this GUEST hasn't posted anything else nasty, in this thread, so let's hope it stays that way. Maybe in a few days, if it is true, they will feel comfortable in telling us who they are.

When my mother died, and I had just gone through the experience of holding her during the worst part of her heart attack, the first thing I did after the ambulance left was to post a thread in the Mudcat.

You can see it if you want. It's called 'For my mother'. I posted it on Thanksgiving day 2000.

Yes, CarolC, and I'm sure you posted as a "Guest," right?

I did the same when my wife died, because I wanted support from friends I had met on the Mudcat, but I damned well didn't sign "Guest." And I did get wonderful words of support from all over the world from friends I will never meet.

kat, I just don't know how to reply to your message. You are one of the greatest supporters of the healing threads. Yet when an unknown poster writes a message that could be considered a mockery of the threads, you make excuses for them. Love you, Babe, but I just don't know what else to say.

Has our berieved Guest posted again?

If you believe this guy/girl really lost his/her brother, I've got some beach front property I want to show you in Yuma, Arizona.

Geeze.

No, I posted as myself. But I'm just me. I know that there are some people who experience things differently than I do. I'm willing to give this person the benefit of the doubt today. Guest,
My healing thoughts are directed to you and families like you, we understand your bitterness and feel your pain, we, here in UK feel totally helpless and powerless, and are trying to offer the only thing we feel we can at this time, I know you are suffering MUCH much more than us, but believe me, we are all talking from the heart, and in no way wish to offend you and your families.
All I can offer you is my love, I am So Very Very sorry I cannot offer more!

Lots of people are dead. Lots of people have lost friends and relatives. True enough, healing thoughts can't always work miracles, and can't mend the big picture. But sometimes its all there is to do.
I don't thinks its appropriate to bicker over the intentions of the thread - this is one where we should take it at face value & risk the insignificance of being made fools of.
Guest - I'm really sorry to hear about your brother - it really must be a 'f*ck off world' time for you. Can't say any more than that really. Nothing that helps anyway.

Our guest didn't "sign" himself (or herself) as Guest, the system did it. I once appeared as a guest because I faled to notice that my cookie hadn't kicked in. And a friend new to Mudcat appeared as Guest, because she overlooked the box for putting her name in. Maybe this would be a good time for DougR to go and play with his National Missile Defence system.

If it's true, we are doing a good job by letting our guest vent his/her anger without actualy hurting anyone. If it is not true we are doing a good job by giving our guest a good laugh. So either way our healing thoughts have done some good.

Cheers

If "GUEST" lost his/her cookie, it's a simple thing to re-set it and post an explaination. If "GUEST chose to be unknown, well, that's his/her choice for whatever reason.
But considering the troll and flame posts we've had to endure in the past from anonymous persons, it is only natural that some of are just a litle skeptical of this GUEST's motives.

Doug R - ok, so maybe this person is just out to raise a ruckus about the healing threads. IMO, that attitude is a symptom of a mindset that could use healing itself. So either way, my thoughts go out to the person who originated this thread, hoping that they soon work thru their anguish, or whatever causes them need to mock others.

Tens of thousands of people are dead today who were alive some 25 hours ago. My thoughts are with all those who lost a family member, a friend, a colleague, a loved one or even an acquaintance in this tragedy. We have all lost fellow human beings.

Shame on you who feel the need at this time to be petty and condem anyone who "might" be hurting. In a deep grief the "guest" may not have thought clearly and just wrote their feelings. How dare you be so petty that everytime someone posts as a guest whether it's a good thread or not someone here feels the need to BAND them , instead of doing the mature thing and ignoring the ignorance. In this time of need, compassion is the only thing that is right. The "guest" one way or another needs to look at themselves in the mirror at some point. Get over the "flaming" and "trolling" and grow up. Life is not about a message board!!! GO donate blood, and help start a relief program in your town through the red cross, HELP your fellow man.. not bash hhim. SHAME ON YOU Jill

I was not trying to inflame anyone with my post. It was a gut reaction and I stand by it! When I'm close enough to ground-zero to see smoke, and someone writes in about losing a brother, and then vanishes from sight after pulling my chain, I tend to get a bit tweaked.

I too lost a close family member to a terrorist (IRA) organisation. It sickens me everytime someone asks for irish rebel songs on this forum. How would you feel if I requested talaban/afganistan fundamentalist songs? No need to worry, I wouldn't dream of doing such a thing.
Guest, you have my deepest sympathy, I do know how you feel and the truth is, you are going to feel worse. I lost it for about 6 months. It took me three years of hate and anger, but eventually I learned to let go. I don't hate his killers anymore. I miss him daily

it was the sickening response that the post might not be real that bothered me so much... have we lost so much faith and compassion that we automatically assume it fake or wrong??? What happen to believing in the best of people ? Until we start to value human life ABOVE ALL ELSE, we will never be more then the skeptical, untrusting barbarians we claim not to be. HOw sad that even in an hour of need for all of us, we still find the time to take jibes at each other...

I think he's a phony.
I went back and checked some of the other inflamatory "GUEST" posts and there are certain characteristics that are consistant throughout.
I went back to the election and there she/he was, albeit under several different pseudonames (GUEST SO-AND-SO).
So I'm convinced that it's the same person.
Not that I mind, you understand. If he/she can't stand the light of day, it's not MY problem.
By posting as "GUEST" she/he can get 'catters to read his/her posts because, "it might not be him/her this time".
GUEST, this is a silly attitude. They read MY drivel, why do you assume they wouldn't read yours?

Subject: RE: HEALING THOUGHTS? FUCK OFF

Troll: The thing that really upsets me is so many Mudcatters post messages asking for support because they have lost a loved one, and Mudcatters always respond with messages of love and support. I did the same thing when my wife died two years ago and I was swamped with messages of goodwill and support. It was much appreciated.

There have been many other such posts, but I don't recall one that was posted by a "Guest."

When someone posts who does not identifies him/herself, and particularly when the title of the thread is such as the one as this, I question the validity of the poster.

When Mudcatters rush to post messages of love and support to unidentified guests, it causes me to wonder how sincere such messages are to those who are "real" people.

I'll have nothing more to say on the subject. I will not be surprised, however, to see a "post" "I just lost my whole family in the World Trade Center," and signed, "Guest." And I won't be surprised to see multiple of messages of sympathy and support. And the fake poster will have a good laugh.
