The column began in October 1997, and IMO is very well written and extremely informative, helpful and thought-provoking. As one might expect from Peter Berryman, it's often quite humorous as well. My brother and sister-in-law lived in Wisconsin for several years, so I've been out to visit and I got the tour.... cheese and cows and Dells and beer.... A tip for tourists: July is not the best month for visiting a pig farmer (one of my brother's then-parishioners), nor even for driving past his farm! And Peter's column is one of my main reasons for enjoying the Mad Folks Newsletter whenever it arrives. Brett Axel, a poet from N.Y., has asked me for a recording of the song. Is there one out there? Do i need your permission to perform the song. If I remember right it was the Peace and Justice group in Colorado Springs that turned me on to the song. I do a little advocacy work with the WCH and am a singer/songwriter with some of my own original songs. My website has 12 songs "This Machine Kills Fascists" an homage to Woody Guthrie.
