FYI – thought I'd let you all know, if you don't already, that Peter Berryman (of Lou and Peter Berryman) writes a monthly column for Mad Folk News, the newsletter of Wisconsin's Madison Folk Music Society. The column began in October 1997, and IMO is very well written and extremely informative, helpful and thought-provoking. As one might expect from Peter Berryman, it's often quite humorous as well.

The archives of all Whither Zithers (to date) can be found here: http://louandpeter.com/wz.html

That's great stuff, Sharon. I was drawn to a column called California-ya-hey, that described one of their California tours. I'm one of those former Wisconsinites who goes up to the stage after concerts, to hear news from home.

The Berryman Website is http://louandpeter.com/.

Joe: Forward Hey! My brother and sister-in-law lived in Wisconsin for several years, so I've been out to visit and I got the tour.... cheese and cows and Dells and beer.... A tip for tourists: July is not the best month for visiting a pig farmer (one of my brother's then-parishioners), nor even for driving past his farm!

I was very impressed with The House on the Rock, though!

By the way, Joe, you were close to the Berrymans's website but you had the names transposed. Any one of these three addresses should get you there:

Just got to hang with Peter and Lou at the Fox Valley Folk Festival in the rain this weekend past. And Peter's column is one of my main reasons for enjoying the Mad Folks Newsletter whenever it arrives. (Other than looking to see who is playin' at the places I used to frequently pick---Cafe Carpe etc.)

All the best to you "mad folks".

Lou and Peter were great - as always - at the Fox Valley fest this weekend.
Of the following ----

"Black hole trashcan, moon crater home, automatic washcloth, selfpropelled comb, Sensor in the brain pan, feelavision set, flyaway Chevrolet campervan jet, Interactive oleo, La-Z-Boy shoes, autofocus windowpane, remedial blues,
Self clean condo, Astroturf shrub, flashback epiphany afterlife club." ----

I'm looking for those shoes,
Chris in Wheaton

Those would all be good things to have, Chris. But how about something I've longed wished for, a gizmo that cleans paint brushes?

Cleaning up the paint brushes when you're all tired out from painting is a real drag, aina?

That Whither Zither newsletter is terrific -- if only I weren't at work I could spend a day just idling through it!!

Several years ago I was asked to learn and play "The Family Car" at several different actions including "The Parade of Homeless" in Colorado Springs sponsored by the Housing Advocacy Coalitionand most recently the "Walk in my Shoes" fundraiser for the Wyoming Coalition for the homeless. Brett Axel, a poet from N.Y., has asked me for a recording of the song. Is there one out there? Do i need your permission to perform the song. If I remember right it was the Peace and Justice group in Colorado Springs that turned me on to the song.
I do a little advocacy work with the WCH and am a singer/songwriter with some of my own original songs. My website has 12 songs "This Machine Kills Fascists" an homage to Woody Guthrie. I'd be honored if someone out there would check it out and tell me what they think
here are a couple of links.

Hi Earl,

Your best bet would be to ask Lou and Peter. How do you do that? I hear you asking...

It's easy -- just visit one of those links above kindly posted by Sharon A. The first page has a couple of @ddresses for each of them.

Drop 'em an email, I'm sure they'll be pleased to hear from you -- they are both lovely people.

Cheers,

YY

This is a hoot! Being a po' hillbilly, I'm always looking for decorating tips (cheap) Spraying them gold and hanging them up sounds right tasteful to me!
