24 May 04 - 01:33 AM (#1192419) Subject: RE: Song Book request by Joe Offer From: Joe Offer Uh-oh...now I'm in an embarrassing situation. Somebody offered to sell me a copy, and then somebody offered to give me a copy, and I said that yes, I'd like it. For the life of me, I couldn't remember who said they'd send me one, so I hope they don't get peeved that I forgot who they were for a time. Now I know, Charles - my computer finally found the e-mail. Thanks. So, anyhow, Sheila, Charles is going to send me a copy, but thank you very much for offering. Gargoyle has been lording it over me for years because he has a copy of Music Near and Far, and I don't. If I'm correct, this is the book that taught "Señor Don Gato" to everybody who knows the song, and I feel deprived because I didn't learn the song as a child. On the other hand, maybe this fourth-grade book is where Gargoyle learned all his bawdy rugby songs... Anyhow, thank you, Sheila and Charles. So, Ebbie, what's this about competition - were you going to send me a copy, too? Heck, I could start teaching fourth-grade music if I could get just a few more. -Joe Offer- |

The Permathread thread had gotten so long I couldn't remember where/when the request came, and I thought my offer to J. Offer would get lost. Anyway, "Senor Don Gato" is NOT in this book. Sheila |

24 May 04 - 12:59 PM (#1192881) Subject: RE: Song Book request by Joe Offer From: Q (Frank Staplin) Nice trick, Joe, the CRTL +F found Don Gato in the Silver Burdett Centennial Song Book, Grade 4, 1985. It probably first appeared in one of their books in the 1960s-1970s. Song Book Permathread 69315: Permathread Cool Beans, the song isn't in the books listed so far. |

24 May 04 - 01:57 PM (#1192929) Subject: RE: Song Book request by Joe Offer From: Q (Frank Staplin) Trying to find what is needed for the CRTL +F search. Great brought up a song about a Great Chief but not Great Don Gato. Don Gato worked for the book I cited. Gato doesn't work. Now it doesn't work at all for Don Gato. Now it doesn't work, period. There is a song called Music in one of the books. The search doesn't find it, but hits on the Music Download at the base of threads. Must be something in my system canceling out the CRTL F after a time |

24 May 04 - 08:57 PM (#1193277) Subject: RE: Song Book request by Joe Offer From: Joe Offer It came in the mail today. Thanks you very much, Charles, and everybody else who offered to help. No, the book doesn't have "Don Gato," but it does have other songs I've been looking for, like "Dr. Ironbeard." -Joe Offer- |
