Knocked out by Gillians version of this song.

Is it traditional or repro.

Anyone got lyrics and chords.

Great song by an outstanding artist

I've looked around
Been all up and down
I never wasted time
On two or three
There's only one girl for me
There was a time
She used to treat me fine
But lately she's been acting
Awful stone
Makes her man
Weep and moan

Chorus:
I-dee-oh-lay-e-tee
Idle-liddle-lodle-lay-e-oh-oh-oh-tee
I-dee-oh-lay-e-tee
Lay-e-tee
Diddle-odle-lay-e-tee
My Morphine will be
The death of me

You should have seen
Me and my Morphine
When we used to
Go dancing in the war
Spin me right off the floor
My Morphine will be
The death of me

Morphine Morphine
What made you so mean
You never used to
Do me like you do
Where's that sweet gal I knew
My Morphine will be
The death of me
My Morphine

Good to hear another person that appreciates her. I feel she is one of the best artists I've heard in a long time. I haven't seen her live except on Austin City Limits but am keepin an eye on her touring schedule here in Eastern Canada or N.E. States.

Have you heard 'No one Knows my Name' or 'Hickory Wind'?

Yeah, that slow tempo!

Im most surprised that the duo are not more popular in the States.

They have a really authentic sound, old time ---Carter family, but nobody here seems to rate them.
I first saw them on a one hour BBCtv special, in was one of these moments when you discover something wonderful, I was glued to the show from beginning to end.

Gillians voice is fine, but to me David Rawlings harmonies and guitar are the icing.

Watching Rawlings perform , you get the impression his guitar is part of his body, complete with sinews and nerves, and their commitment to the music is obvious. Its full of joy and pain.

Ill try to get a listen to the two songs you mention and give you my thoughts on them. Good to talk to you   Ake

It sounds you had the same reaction I did when I first saw them. They both delivered straight from the heart. Knocked me out. It's not too often you see that. Yeah, Rawlings plays that old Epiphone as if is part of his soul!

Good talkin to you ... *6*
