04 Oct 05 - 10:41 AM (#1575496) Subject: RE: BS: Good luck, Mingulay From: Mingulay THE EYEBALL RETURNS. The op has gone well and I still have two orbs albeit that one is red, puffy and just a little on the sore side. Still it's good enough to just about see the telly, order beer and eat lunch with but not good enough to sign cheques with for the foreseeable future (pun intended). Many thanks to all for your kind thoughts and words. Hope to see some of you around in the not too distant future. Have to close for now as the good eye is complaining of overwork. Blessed be Pete |

05 Oct 05 - 11:31 AM (#1576505) Subject: RE: BS: Good luck, Mingulay From: JennyO This is the thread where the reason for the surgery was talked about. Glad that it went well and the eyeball was nicely repainted and polished. You wearing your black pirate eyepatch? Arrrrrrr!! Jenny |

05 Oct 05 - 05:44 PM (#1576762) Subject: RE: BS: Good luck, Mingulay From: Mingulay The eyeball was excellently repainted and is now resplendent in the later colours of Fellows Morton & Clayton (a UK canal carrying company for our colonial listeners) being red, green and yellow with a nice coat of black bitumen below the waterline. All the seams have been properly caulked with oakum and Stockholm tar rolled by my own fair hands. She's now back in the water and tighter than a duck's arse with not a peep from the bilge pump. Early voyages are being taken with care as I don't want to scratch the new paint! One disappointment is the lack of a black eyepatch which has meant cancelling the order I made for a parrott (a particularly fine example of a Norwegian Blue). This typing with one eye is somewhat knackering so I will now leave the cyber airwaves alone for a while. TTFN Pete |

06 Oct 05 - 11:04 AM (#1577074) Subject: RE: BS: Good luck, Mingulay From: JennyO Sounds like a fine eyeball you be havin' there Mingulay! She'll be seaworthy in no time at all! What a shame about the eyepatch - and I had so pictured you with the patch on your eye and the Norwegian Blue on your shoulder. I've never typed with my eye before - I usually use my fingers (she said, getting her coat...) |

06 Oct 05 - 01:39 PM (#1577261) Subject: RE: BS: Good luck, Mingulay From: Stilly River Sage Thanks! I read up about that when it first appeared and thought it might be the same person, but the span of six weeks is enough for me to lose the details. Maybe I need a little surgery to keep my memory from leaking out. :) SRS |

06 Oct 05 - 03:01 PM (#1577327) Subject: RE: BS: Good luck, Mingulay From: Mingulay The other downside of no patch is not being able to say Aaaaarrrggghhhh, Shiver me timbers, Ahoy me hearties, Where's ne grog and other piratical/nautical expressions. Not that they are much used here on the canal as opportunities are few and far between and the only pirates in these here parts are the British Waterways men wresting vast sums in the way of mooring fees from poor boat owners. Jenny O, you should try typing with your eye, it's the best way to see the letters!! Ah! I see they've come to take me back to that comfy padded room. The one with no handle on the inside - strange that. |
