Roll & Go is singing at the annual Pirate Party at the Maine Maritime Museum in Bath that same evening.

Do keep us posted on the After-The-Getaway Party. Our Portland folks would probably be more than happy to help with overnight hospitality but I'll phone you about that.

Cheerily,
Charley Noble

I'll be there. I can't make the Getaway this year, and it bothers me. It would have been my eith year in a row, and it's the only place I get to meet up with some folks. Not only that, I need a 'joy' fix really badly. Your song circles aren't the Getaway, but they provide a serious amount of joy. Or maybe that's scotch. Who cares.

A bed would be nice. The inflatable one was quite comfortable. Maybe I can hand off some small things (about earring sized) for the silent austion.

Oh Crap! Here I had hoped it would slip by unnoticed. No gifts - I mean it. PLEASE no gifts! My house is full of crap and there is no more room for your thoughtful additions.
By the way - are you taking Jesus home with you?

Jeri - we are bringing back the Getaway with us - Micca and Khatt, Carole and Andrew and lord knows who else. There will be a November Song Circle. But I still think you should quit your job and drive down with us. Mick and Barry in a car with me, Tami, Micca & Khatt? Not a ride to miss.

Ah yes, and probably a few more tasteful additions to Sinsull's already tastefully decorated home. (Innit time to bring up the inflatable moose head from the cellar and decorate it as per te season? And, remember, I just spotted its twin in Elle Decor!)

It's 8:3x here in southern non-seacoast New Hampsha, and it's raining. The forecast here calls for heavy rain and high winds, but that likely won't stop me. I lived through Indiana tornado seasons, where rain came down sideways, in sheets. You just pack a lunch, leave early, gas up, and drive 5 miles an hour...

I should say, since I don't know what direction Maeve would be coming from, it's just your average rain at the moment and some wind. Things may change, but your umbrella would currently be safe.

The more accurate weather link for Sinsull's would be --

Portland Head Light

I like the page of webcam links at www.maineharbors.com

I see large dark shapes flying past the windows -- I certainly hope they're leaves! (I won't let the cat out -- she'd fly away -- and I told her so!)

Came home last night to find our wood not only delivered, but covered with a brand-new tarp! We've never gotten service like THAT before!

Will drive to Portland in my "new" '97 Subaru Legacy -- and see how it handles in high winds and rain (I hope there's not any "etcetera").

It's pretty wild here, and we have to keep the stoves going, the water buckets filled (or emptied depending upon where we want the water and the chickens safe). My regrets for missing meeting you all; except for Kendall whom I met years ago. Ummm... I don't regret that at all!

Jacqui, I'll start sorting out that interesting yarn for you. Mary, I'll tuck in here with my husband, some oatmeal cookies and a pot of tea. The chickens tried to persuade me to bring them into the house rather than their shed, but I politely, firmly, declined. I'd have brought you some nice little eggs had I been able to make it through the gales today. (Happy Birthday!)

I hope your music is merry and yourselves are warm and dry.

Any survivors?

Roll & Go had a wild evening at the Maine Maritime Museum Pirate Party. It was so stormy that they cancelled the usual pirate raid and bonfire on the waterfront. The Museum lost power halfway through our second set but we were able to avert panic by activating Judy's mini-lanten and continuing our singing for another half hour. It's amazing that we could do this in almost complete darkness. I'm sure those kids will have powerful memories of raging billows (just outside our big bay window overlooking the Kennebec River), driving rain, gale force winds, and our songs about pirates and wreckers. It will be amusing this morning to see where we packed everything: the cables, microphones, costumes, the miscellaneous pirate parts. Has anyone seen the parrot?

Cheerily,
Charley Noble

Tom and Linn, Jacqui and Kendall, Tami, Dave, Jeri, and me.
Fed them all breakfast and sent them on their way. I lost power yesterday afternoon for a few seconds but all was well last night. Had a few flashlights with fresh batteries ready just in case.
Good food, great music. At every lull I warbled Mexicali Rose until someone sang LOUDLY.
The high point:
Jeri on fiddle, Kendall on guitar, and Tom on concertina performing Ashoken Fairwell. Life is good.
Second high point:
A surprise phone call from KT and Ebbie. Great to hear their voices but a sad reminder that they won't be at the Getaway. Damn!
Thank you all!

Lovely evening -- we even got in some conversation until Sinsull started warbling "Mexicali Rose". Had an extra hour of sleep time, sort of, so no real sleep deprivation, for a change, and some more good conversation this morning.

Oh, don't worry, we sang plenty, too! And good choice of food for a blustery night!

And, okay, if I have the time, I'll bring TWO plates of shortbread when I bring shortbread.

Gotta go get some more of the stuff done that I didn't get done because I was being social in a neighboring state.

Is the song circle/party with Andrew and Carol on Wednesday the 8th or Thursday the 9th? The Post-Getaway thread sounded as if it was Thursday the 9th (which is the day I've been trying to finagle an early departure from work so we can attend), but this thread seems to suggest that it's Wednesday the 8th.
