22 Oct 06 - 05:13 PM (#1865901) Subject: RE: October Song Circle at SINSULL's From: Jeri I'll be there. I can't make the Getaway this year, and it bothers me. It would have been my eith year in a row, and it's the only place I get to meet up with some folks. Not only that, I need a 'joy' fix really badly. Your song circles aren't the Getaway, but they provide a serious amount of joy. Or maybe that's scotch. Who cares. A bed would be nice. The inflatable one was quite comfortable. Maybe I can hand off some small things (about earring sized) for the silent austion. |

Jeri - we are bringing back the Getaway with us - Micca and Khatt, Carole and Andrew and lord knows who else. There will be a November Song Circle. But I still think you should quit your job and drive down with us. Mick and Barry in a car with me, Tami, Micca & Khatt? Not a ride to miss. SINS |

28 Oct 06 - 03:12 PM (#1870955) Subject: RE: October Song Circle at SINSULL's From: maeve It's pretty wild here, and we have to keep the stoves going, the water buckets filled (or emptied depending upon where we want the water and the chickens safe). My regrets for missing meeting you all; except for Kendall whom I met years ago. Ummm... I don't regret that at all! Jacqui, I'll start sorting out that interesting yarn for you. Mary, I'll tuck in here with my husband, some oatmeal cookies and a pot of tea. The chickens tried to persuade me to bring them into the house rather than their shed, but I politely, firmly, declined. I'd have brought you some nice little eggs had I been able to make it through the gales today. (Happy Birthday!) I hope your music is merry and yourselves are warm and dry. maeve |
29 Oct 06 - 09:52 AM (#1871328) Subject: RE: October Song Circle at SINSULL's From: Charley Noble Any survivors? Roll & Go had a wild evening at the Maine Maritime Museum Pirate Party. It was so stormy that they cancelled the usual pirate raid and bonfire on the waterfront. The Museum lost power halfway through our second set but we were able to avert panic by activating Judy's mini-lanten and continuing our singing for another half hour. It's amazing that we could do this in almost complete darkness. I'm sure those kids will have powerful memories of raging billows (just outside our big bay window overlooking the Kennebec River), driving rain, gale force winds, and our songs about pirates and wreckers. It will be amusing this morning to see where we packed everything: the cables, microphones, costumes, the miscellaneous pirate parts. Has anyone seen the parrot? Cheerily, Charley Noble |
29 Oct 06 - 10:47 AM (#1871373) Subject: RE: October Song Circle at SINSULL's From: SINSULL Tom and Linn, Jacqui and Kendall, Tami, Dave, Jeri, and me. Fed them all breakfast and sent them on their way. I lost power yesterday afternoon for a few seconds but all was well last night. Had a few flashlights with fresh batteries ready just in case. Good food, great music. At every lull I warbled Mexicali Rose until someone sang LOUDLY. The high point: Jeri on fiddle, Kendall on guitar, and Tom on concertina performing Ashoken Fairwell. Life is good. Second high point: A surprise phone call from KT and Ebbie. Great to hear their voices but a sad reminder that they won't be at the Getaway. Damn! Thank you all! |

Had an extra hour of sleep time, sort of, so no real sleep deprivation, for a change, and some more good conversation this morning. Oh, don't worry, we sang plenty, too! And good choice of food for a blustery night! And, okay, if I have the time, I'll bring TWO plates of shortbread when I bring shortbread.
