Nope. But I'm in touch with the Estonian Embassy in London and I can give you the Cultural Attache's contact number if you PM me. Reet Remmel. Very friendly and obliging. I was supposed to go to their Independence Day bash last Tuesday but couldn't get away ...

Keith Kendrick and me were booked at the Paide Shanty Festival in Estonia in 2002. There seemed to be a real mixture of music but what really sticks in my mind is what a beautiful place it was and how friendly and hospitable everyone was. I would really like to go back again, just for a holiday. Tallin was lovely.

This is a group who do Scottish Ceilidh Dancing and who are keen to do English Ceilidh. I am in touch with Eike Albert-Unt (Eike.Albert-Unt@mfa.eekeen) She speaks excellent English and could be a very good contact for anyone going to Tallin. Roger Watson has already been over running a couple of workshops and a ceilidh and I am due to go in the spring to do the same, and develop the work that Roger has started. They had an English guest caller (Chris Davies from Norwich)at Christmas who did some English ceilidh and also some Playford!

I emailed K.Linda Kivi, a fellow member of our local co-op radio who had done a programme once featuring CDs she brought back from the old country. She says check out these names:

Eesti Keeled - Kella Tiksumist and other CDs
Mart and Jaak Johanson
The Brothers Urb - Citizen of Sun (this one's largely in English but earlier recordings are in Estonian)
Vagilased - "ethno-regi-jazz"
Kirile Loo - Saatus - traditional music sooped up
Jaan Tate - Mine, mine (means go, go in Esto)
Kait Tamra -

We (Calennig) were there at the Paide Shanty Festival 2000. We had a wonderful time and got paid in cabbages! It was a wonderful experience.

Eike is a regular correspondant on E-Ceilidh - seems to be popular enough to run ceilidhs there.
