I've been on Atkins for about four months and it really suits me. I think that you have to find the right method for your own system. You do need to be exercising as well, to really make it work. Drinking lots of water also helps keep you healthy and fills you up. Medical help is useful - especially keeping an eye on your general health. I've had blood pressure and heart rate checked since starting Atkins and both are healthily low. Support groups are great, and there's plenty of us on Mudcat to come back to when you've got the munchies or when things just get on top of you. Sometimes just knowing that other people are rooting for you can be a real positive. Good luck - keep us posted.
