Point 1: What Greg F. said (perfectly and simply) in his 12:29 post. Point 2: As you say, a cyclist would have to be suicidal to jump one into the path of an oncoming vehicle, so they don't. BUT I have SEEN them do it, numerous times, often when I was the driver of, or a passenger in, the motor vehicle in question. The cyclists didn't die, in any of those cases, because the motorist (who had the right of way) slammed on the brakes, and we scraped ourselves off the dashboard after the cyclist had gone on. Are you saying that I hallucinated all those cases? (Not to say that motor vehicle drivers don't run red lights or stop signs; but cyclists do a lot more often, in proportion to the number of them on the road.) P.
