Subject: RE: The mighty Bedworth! Who's going? From: Malc Bedworth Date: 06 Nov 05 - 02:41 PM Hi all, programme now on the website www.bedworth-festival.info Caravan space now sold out, space for a very few small campervans on Rugby Club, Indoor camping still available as are week-end tickets, thanks to our new bigger venues. Unfortunately the council have been unable to get the French Market traders to agree to come (better offers from elsewhere apparently) and just in case you are interested Jeremy Beadle will be putting in an appearance to turn on the Christmas lights, followed by the now annual firework display! Any enquiries email me malcg@bedworth-festival.info or via the web site. Ta! Malc. |

Subject: RE: The mighty Bedworth! Who's going? From: Sue the Borderer Date: 31 Oct 05 - 06:33 PM I'll be there - and I'm a Bedworth virgin! And I need some help. Malc's said we can run Herbaceous Border at Bedworth (Saturday afternoon and Sunday lunchtime for an hour or so) but so far I haven't managed to kidnap any musicians to play for us. Any offers - or any suggestions of who I could approach? Likely tunes are a) Uncle Bernard's (preferably) or Click Go the Shears b) Lord of the Dance c) Anything suitable for 'border style single stepping' eg Donkey Riding; This Old Man; Rakes of Mallow; the dreaded Speed the Plough .... or a whole host of other tunes. Any instruments welcome, but ideally it would include a melodeon and a drum. Anyone who wants to come along and dance (whether or not they've morris danced before) will be very welcome but we can't do it without musicians. Contact me via this thread or PM me. Please!!! Sue |

Subject: RE: The mighty Bedworth! Who's going? From: Verna Date: 29 Oct 05 - 03:57 PM Greetings from Verna & Ray who with regret cannot be there. Remember when I used to return from Canada especially to co-incide with Bedworth? That was a long time ago!! However we will be thinking of you all and hope that you read the invitation in the programme to our Song Weekend here in Ireland in March (first weekend. This is to celebrate our birthdays (60th & 65th - one each) and everyone who would like to come is invited. We will organise venue - guest spots - (well one anyway) and reasonably priced local accommodation. We also have a garden for tents caravans campers etc so keep us in mind. Love to you all and best for 2005 Malc Love Verna Ray (UptonFF) |
Subject: RE: The mighty Bedworth! Who's going? From: My guru always said Date: 29 Oct 05 - 03:11 PM That's brill news Malc, Thanks! We'll keep it going for as long as possible - if Snuffy fades out, then I'll fade in! 2 1/2 hours will be Fab, takes us to 7pm & gives us a chance to get around the room once. Then there'll be enough time for us to clear up all the chocolate wrappers (that IS eating isn't it?) before the next event at 7.30pm. *hint, hint* |
Subject: RE: The mighty Bedworth! Who's going? From: Malc Bedworth Date: 29 Oct 05 - 02:53 PM Hi Hil, It doesn't have to finish at 6pm - next event (Evening Singaround) isn't till 7.30, so I can shedule it for 2 hours (or 2 and a half) if you want? Let me know asap if you want me to extend it, it will not be a problem - I just thought some people may want to eat! Malc |

Subject: RE: The mighty Bedworth! Who's going? From: mandotim Date: 22 Oct 05 - 01:31 PM Thanks for the info Malc; the market was great last year. Civic Hall sounds like a good bet too. Won't be using Wetherspoons at any price; still haven't forgiven them for closing the Wheatsheaf in Stoke to musicians. Another fine venue down the tubes. Tim from Bit on the Side |
Subject: RE: The mighty Bedworth! Who's going? From: Malc Bedworth Date: 22 Oct 05 - 10:52 AM Ello! Continental Market is on Saturday again. Catering should be quite exceptional (certainly exceptional for Bedworth!) on the Saturday this year as the refurbished Civic Hall now has excellent facilities and will be doing breakfasts, snacks, and even full dinners/evening meals, plus a real ale bar, and can cater for up to 200 people at a time! Catering in the Civic Hall friday is only until early evening, but if you're happy with "cheap and cheerful" there's always Wetherspoons, just down from the Liberal Club (or the Chinese or the Chippy) Malc. |
Subject: RE: The mighty Bedworth! Who's going? From: MBSLynne Date: 22 Oct 05 - 10:38 AM Well they were also there the year before Chris, so I think it's a fair bet it will be there again. Get in early this time! I don't want to be feeding Jude bits of chicken like a baby bird again!! Love Lynne |
Subject: RE: The mighty Bedworth! Who's going? From: mandotim Date: 22 Oct 05 - 09:55 AM Webfolk and I are well aware that the megaspuds Francais ran out last year; we ate most of them, hahahahahaha! More to the point; will there be somewhere to get a meal in Bedduth on a Friday night, when the town appears to be shut? Fine greasy fry up in the covered market on Saturday morning though... Tim from Bit on the Side |
Subject: RE: The mighty Bedworth! Who's going? From: Chris Green Date: 22 Oct 05 - 08:59 AM Anyone know if the delightful French market with its Provencal potatoes of niceness will be in town this year? They'd sold out by the time I got there last year! :( |

Subject: RE: The mighty Bedworth! Who's going? From: Malc Bedworth Date: 20 Oct 05 - 05:49 PM Hi all, just looking through the thread and hope I can give some useful info - TENTS - not really allowed ...... but we've got at least 3 already, the Rugby Club seem OK about it (£4 for the week-end 3pm Friday to 8pm Sunday)but MUST be booked in advance as space is strictly limited CARAVANS & CAMPERVANS - as above almost full, we are going to try and negotiate some further space, but there is a match on on the Saturday and there needs to be somewhere for the players to park (and to play!) CATTERS MEET - still looking at times, but similar timing to last year and the same excellent venue. INDOOR CAMPING - in view of the Rugby Club facility there will be much more space and comfort in the Scout Hut this year. I got in trouble last year when someone asked me what we did when it got full and I said "start another layer" - no sense of humour some people - then again! Keep the thread going and feel free to ask questions, I'll drop in and answer what I can. Cheers Malc. |

Subject: RE: The mighty Bedworth! Who's going? From: GUEST,muppitz@work Date: 13 Oct 05 - 08:38 AM The last discussion with mother said we were going, but if I pass my driving test next Friday I'll be coming with, or without her. Very much doubt we'll do indoor camping, we've had enough bad experiences with that in the past! Ah well, we slept in the car at Banbury, so I'm sure we can put up with it again! muppitz x |

That definitely helps *grin* Fantastic news that Malc is once again serious about chocolate this year, lets hope we manage to remind him in time for the Gather! But of course the tin of Chocolates from Malc at Banbury was Very Welcome |
Subject: RE: The mighty Bedworth! Who's going? From: GUEST,Observer Date: 11 Oct 05 - 04:17 PM This is a quote taken from the Bed'uth Festival October news letter. "Mudcatters Meet After last years great meet we are again hosting a mudcatters session (for those uninitiated a sort of singing and chocolate eating session!) – it's certainly not exclusive to catters. It will take place in the upstairs room of The White Horse Saturday teatime, before the turning on of the Christmas lights ceremony. (Someone better remind me to hand over the tin of choccies this year – then again I really enjoyed eating them the week after the festival last year!)" Hope it helps. |

Subject: RE: The mighty Bedworth! Who's going? From: alanww Date: 11 Oct 05 - 02:54 PM Hello to all the Friends I haven't seen since last weekend at Banbury FF. Missing you already! I will be at Bedworth FF with the Shakespeare Mummers, as last year. We will be mummimg on the Friday evening, presumably during the intervals of the concert(s) and the ceilidh. Then I should be free for the rest of the weekend. The other mummers bores out there will undoubtedly be fascinated to hear that we will probably be performing the version of the Broadway Mummers Play from Worcestershire, which was collected by Miss Antionette Taylor and published in the American Folklore Journal XXII (1909)! I will undoubtedly look in on a singaround or three during the Saturday. So see many of you then. "Dancing and singing, bell ringing!" Alan |
Subject: RE: The mighty Bedworth! Who's going? From: Snuffy Date: 11 Oct 05 - 09:02 AM I remember it being Saturday afternoon, was it about 4pm? After Lynne Heraud & Pat Turner's singaround, and before Brian Rogers' ? |
Subject: RE: The mighty Bedworth! Who's going? From: My guru always said Date: 11 Oct 05 - 08:07 AM Sounds like the same place Snuffy (what a lovely room that is!), just not sure about the time. Was it Saturday afternoon last year? That seems like a good time to me... Hopefully MiLady Morticia will be hosting again & I'd like to organise a MudRaffle if Malc is agreeable, but I'd need o confirm that first, so hang onto your prizes for the moment. BTW, we raised £83 for the MudCat at Banbury last weekend, thanks everyone! |
