Subject: RE: how did you choose your mudcat name? From: Mbo Date: 01 Aug 00 - 11:21 PM Mine, of course, stemmed from an episode of "Home Improvement" where construction worker Jimbo gave Tim Allen his own hard-hat, with "Timbo" written on it. Add that to a store we saw in North Augusta, South Carolina that was a constant subject in my bizarre little cartoons--"Jimbo's Gas & Goodies". AND the sinister cigar-smoking clown Zbo from "Are You Afraid Of The Dark?"--all led to me calling my sisters "Kbo" and "Cbo"...the first letter of the first name, followed by a "bo". They reciprocated and started calling me "Mbo". This was oh, 6 years ago. It's prounouced "Em-bo". It's funny, some folks think it's my initials! Sorry, those would be MER. --Mattbo |

Isn't Orillia a police state? You knew that the All Points Bulletin web site had a story about donuts killing more American cops each year than guns and car crashes. Take those Boston Creams out into the parking lot and fill em full of holes. |
Subject: RE: how did you choose your mudcat name? From: Escamillo Date: 01 Aug 00 - 11:04 PM This is from the previous thread (I'm getting old at the Mudcat ?): "Since the early times of BBSs I had to choose a nickname, and I decided that it should be an Opera character, the music I love (not all operas). I considered Radames, Calaf, Giovanni, Scarpia, etc. and then winner was.. Escamillo, le torero de Granada ! (from Bizet's CARMEN) There were two reasons: I was already singing as baritone (before my teacher declared me a tenor), and Escamillo was so handsome, so brave, so ridiculously romantic ! Subject: RE: how did you choose your mudcat name? From: Little Hawk Date: 01 Aug 00 - 10:52 PM If you were in Canada, you would more likely have lost your donut. We have more donut shops per capita than any other place in the world. I kid you not. There are 6 Tim Horton's Donut shops in Orillia, as well as several other donut chains, and we only have 27,000 people in this town. Soon they will be building double decker ones, for lack of available vacant land. Ye Gods! Weird situation, eh? |

Subject: RE: how did you choose your mudcat name? From: GUEST,Sean Ruprecht-Belt Date: 01 Aug 00 - 10:46 PM So many actors among us! I'm somehow cheered by that. I guess I should have guessed it though. With all the talent that runs rampant through this forum, it couldn't be limited to just music. And Bill, I won't hold your Equity card against you. Here in St. Louis where I hail from, an Equity card just means you won't be able to get work here anymore. But that's a whole other story for another time. -Sean |

Subject: RE: how did you choose your mudcat name? From: Little Hawk Date: 01 Aug 00 - 10:44 PM As I indicated in a previous string, I had the name "Little Hawk" in a "previous" (as they say) life, when I was a young man among the Lakotas in the later 1800's. I am absolutely serious about that. I thought I'd use in on Mudcat, because I like it. My actual name (now) is George Coventry, and I sometimes wonder if I should just have registered under that in the first place... So-called "previous" lives, by the way, are not actually previous at all...it's all happening at once on the level of spirit, because spirit is timeless. And it's all changing all the time in more ways than can possibly be expressed through spoken or written language. So...any advancement in consciousness you make here and now affects not just this life but ALL OF YOUR LIVES!!! And thats' STRONG MEDICINE. So...I advise all people to be moderate, loving, and forgiving...and to stand up bravely for their ideals at the same time. We are all of one spirit. It may not seem that way, but remember, this is the world of illusion here...this is a magnificent dream (or a horrific one, if you please)...and one day the dreamer will awake to find that all his fears indeed were groundless and only his love remains as an eternal testament in the fields of creation. I am Little Hawk. I am George Coventry. And I am what you are. And I know it. |

I will never understand why, but I was always cast either as a convict in chains in a medieval prison or a Tramp or wineo I remember turning up once to play the part of a tramp and the wardrobe mistress, the cheeky bugger, said the clothes that I was wearing would be perfect for the part. these were the clothes that I usually wore every day. Subject: RE: how did you choose your mudcat name? From: Little Neophyte Date: 01 Aug 00 - 04:54 PM I started off at Little Neophyte, because that is what I was at the time. I had no clue about folk music and I had just taken up playing the banjo. Then I changed my name to Banjo Bonnie as I became more confident with my music. Then I changed my name back to Little Neophyte because I felt I was way over my head music wise and felt like I wanted to crawl back into my crib. Then I changed my name back to Banjo Bonnie when I had built up some confidence and didn't feel so little anymore. Now I would like to change my name back to Little Neophyte because it suites me more, but I figure whoever is managing the resource page will kill me and I will confuse people so much they will be mad at me. So I figure I should just accept my moniker but really folks I am Little Neophyte at heart. Bonnie |

Subject: RE: how did you choose your mudcat name? From: Downeast Bob Date: 01 Aug 00 - 04:43 PM I sometimes go out and hop freight trains. That led me to attend the National Hobo Convention at Britt, Iowa in 1996, where I was dubbed a "Knight of the Road" by Luther the Jet, who was then King of the Hobos. Luther asked for my road name. I didn't have one, so I said "Downeast Bob" because my home was in Maine. I figured what was good enough for the hobo community was good enough for the Mudcat community. My real name is Bob Baldwin. |

Hee hee, I even shocked the other classmates by putting on a perfect British accent for Prospero! But my highest regarded, performace was Gabriel in August Wilson's "Fences." Great play! Subject: RE: how did you choose your mudcat name? From: bobby's girl Date: 01 Aug 00 - 04:17 PM I chose my name because when I joined the Mudcat my favourite teddy was sitting by the computer. He is called Bobby, and (for those of you who are old enough to remember) there was a song called Bobby's Girl, which suddenly, under the influence of a couple of glasses of wine, seemed appropriate. It confused the heck out of Bill/sables when we called at his house though, when he knew I was Bobby's Girl, and assumed that my husband, whose name is John, was Bobby! |

Subject: RE: how did you choose your mudcat name? From: Sean Belt Date: 01 Aug 00 - 04:02 PM Oh, GUEST:Ed, must you bring your personal issues with another poster into every venue? It really is tiresome and childish. Please do take the time to get over yourself. And I seriously doubt that it'll get anyone to think well of you over how we all think of Moonchild. She seems pleasant and mostly well mannered. You on the other hand seem to strive for neither. It's also strange that you cop Ed Wood's name for your post. It shows an awful disrespect for a man who's given so many of us a lot of (albeit unintended) laughter. There are many directors much worse that poor old Ed. At least he had a passion for what he did and a charming ineptness showed through in almost all of it. The same could probably not be said for your snide and unimaginative little posts. There. I've said my piece and resolve henceforth to ignore the resultant self-important snit-fit from certain individuals that I see looming on the horizon. Now, then how did you choose your nickname? - Sean |
