Nice one Becca.

Sins - that raspberry lemonade thingy sounds good, can't wait to try it!

Gnu - you keep threatening to come down here - MAKE IT SO!

Liz - condolences - toothache is one of the worst things going and you can't even have a wee dram because if the ani-biotics!

Saul - my dream is the California coast highway - great in a car like that I would think.

Megan - 'there's always someone worse off than you' - I wonder who's at the bottom of the heap then?

Housecat - I'll get Kendall to do a rain dance for you dear - hope it comes soon. Enjoy the reunion and just tell the aunts you're better value now.

We had a great time at the picking party but not a lot of sleep and one very hungover husband this morning.

My grandson got a very good school report for his first year at school - at or above the average across the board and above the year one national expectation for literacy, numeracy and science. One very proud Nanny here!

Liz, I had a toothache experience similiar to yours a few years ago. I had heard that cinnamon oil (from the pharmacy, not the smelly candle store) would help deaden the pain. Desperate, I decided to try it late on a Saturday night to perhaps make it through til my Monday-morning dentist appt. I'm guilty of the mindset of "If a little works well, alot will work better". Went all over my tongue and for some hours all I could say, when TomCat (chuckling) asked me how I was feeling, was "Wthath thoo joo thlink, dthon'th thalk thoo mwe anythmore."
You have my sympathy, dear.
Doing ok except that we've had no real rain for 4 months now. Very worried about fires. My family reunion is coming up next week and I'm dreading all the remarks from the elderly aunts about the pounds I've put on in the 3 years since I saw them last. Oh well.

Thanks for asking...Doing pretty good. I had an excellent smoke the other day. Dunhill Nightcap in a beautiful rusticated Cavicchi billiard that was given to me by one of my pen friends whose doctor forbade him to smoke any more. He has serious health issues, including an inoperable brain tumor. I think of him and quietly wish him well each time I smoke it. And I am thankful that I don't have a fraction of his health issues. The bowl lasted a blissful hour and 20 minutes while I watched The News Hour with Jim Lehrer, and then some MSNBC news.

Two weeks ago, I got a cute, sporty little Miata convertible, and I can't get this shit-eating grin off'n my face. The wife and I had a nice inauguration ceremony with for it. Poured a little champagne--OK then, sparkling wine--on the hood, and sat in the car (not moving) with the top down and drank the rest of it and talked/dreamed about doing Route 66 next Summer.

And my neck and shoulder are feeling much better since I started physical therapy and doing the assigned exercises more regularly.

Other'n the wars, pestilence, global warming, and the boobs still in the White House, I am feeling pretty good.

Don't worry Khatt..don't listen to rumours, its not worth it,the main thing is that your wee one is thriving. Well number 3 son has managed to fight with a car (last Thursday) and is in hospital recovering with a broken collar bone and two broken bones in his leg and multiple cuts and bruises, however he is improving, healing well and being young and strong is certainly in his favour.

OK it is now official not only is my extended family decrepti and falling to bits everything around us has decided to join in the degeneration. this weekend my freezer has started piddling water across the floor and today the door of the fridge slumped at a very limp angle making it impossible to close.

Perhaps i should just go outside to sit and wait for the scarfie wagon as i am sure bits will start falling of shortly.

Well, I'm having to put up with vicious rumours that have NO truth in them whatsoever from someone who should really know better and people that can't help but stick their noses in business that does not concern them in anyway shape or form....but such is life.

Other than that things are pretty good. My son is growing well and we saw his first smile the other week, and no it wasn't wind, although he gets plenty of that!

I've lost over a stone in weight and it's still dropping off, I feel fantastic! I've been enjoying walking and have recently managed 10 miles which is a wonderful achievement, mind you Harry is good company on the walks and gurgles away merrily in his pram!

We had some good news as far as my partner's father is concerned this week.

My brother is getting set to go into the marines in a few weeks time and after speaking with him I know it is something he really wants to do and I am supporting his decision 100%, but I'll continue to send energy to keep him safe when he is posted.

I nearly jumped for joy when I entered Hannaford's and discovered a bin of "discontinued" liquors. Last time I got Bushmill's and single malt at 1/3 the price. Today I got Mango flavored vodka, Sloe Gin, Lemon Raspberry lemonade with booze and some Canadian whiskey. Not worth jumping for joy but it all cost about $20.

I have a toothache. I've had it for nearly 2 weeks now...

I'm on penicillin for it, but the pain gets unbearable at times. It's in a tooth that was filled about 6 months ago... oddly enough, I had no trouble with it until it was filled.

I'm down for a root canal on Tuesday, but if the infection hasn't cleared, it could be another week. Application of ibuprofen, paracetamol and ice packs is not helping but it's amusing my work colleagues, watching me clutch bottles of frozen water to my face.

I'm not a happy bunny.

Busy, and will be until September now.

The hot weather finally broke and it was only 64F on the beach this morning. We're off to a picking party today, Morse family reunion next week, 200 miles away, David Jones concert the week after and then Kendall's post-op in Albany on the 17th. My family comes to stay for two weeks on the 19th and then it looks as if we have stuff happening for most of August.

Life is pretty good.

I've had ups and downs this week. Had some friends from Vermont here for a long weekend and we had a wonderful time, as always. I don't see them nearly enough.

On a sad note, there was a story here on Monday about an elderly woman struck and killed while crossing the street in the city I grew up in. I found out today that it was one of my favorite teachers from high school, Mrs. Paxon, whom I had the pleasure of having as a substitute for 1/2 year in German class. She was a hell of a woman! Hearing her name today brought back some fun memories but I feel terrible about the way her life ended.

Congratulations Liz. Well done!

I must admit I've had a downright slothful weekend on account of the weather. The camping and session weekend was called off on account of one of the worst storms in history around here. The Hunter area which we were going to was declared a natural disaster. The Central Coast and Sydney and the Illawarra also received a buffeting from this storm, 9 people died, there was widespread flooding, roads closed, power cuts, trees down, a wharf at Cremorne in Sydney sank, a huge tanker ran aground at Newcastle, beaches were eroded, and there was massive damage to buildings.

Fortunately we watched all this from the comfort of the lounge room. With wind and rain lashing all around us, we decided the best thing to do was to lay low. So we spent all weekend in a nice warm house, watching episodes of Dr Who on UK TV, or the latest news and weather, or the Lifestyle Channel, or on the computer. John did more than I did - he drew a lot of characters for a pirate poem he has written to entertain children.

We ventured outside briefly on Saturday afternoon to drive down the road and see how high the Cooks River had got, and watch thousands of seagulls helping themselves to worms and things that must have come up for air on the flooded golf course. We are high and dry on a hill here, so the only damage we had was that the tarps we had over the BBQ area are in shreds and there is a mess of ropes and poles and things all over the ground.

Even the tender plants in the no-dig garden which had the protective plastic ripped off them seem to be okay. I cleaned up a bit today and partly unpacked the car (probably having another go at camping in about 3 weeks) Yes, I feel quite relaxed!

I feel inordinately proud of myself as I managed to get nearly £200 in sponsorship - a personal best!

I'm also a happy bunny because I found some money I thought I'd spent last week was really hiding in the pocket of my shorts!

Well, thanks for asking,Kim, I haven't been around for a while, either, and it's great to catch up.

I'm still doing my market stall "Bron's Crafts & Curios" on Welshpool market on Saturdays and mondays, and I run a Flea ans Craft Market once a month at the same place.Saturday afternoons, when it goes quiet, we clear the place by doing a few tunes and inviting local musicians to join us. Asmall start, but it will grow.

We're rehearsing for bits of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" for a picnic in the woods on 23rd June, kids games, storytelling, music, of course, and the rude mechanicals doing their stuff.

The diabetes is pretty well under control, the garden isn't, and I've never been happier, or tireder.

Cheers, Bron.

I'm adjusting well to dialysis, which is driving the social worker at the dialysis center crazy, because her job relies on people like me not adjusting. She doesn't understand that the job I was forced to retire from was getting to be too much for me to handle, and I'm making more on dissability than I was at the job.

In between there's Old Songs and Kendall's operation next week, so a fair amount of travelling going on.

Life is good - a daily visit to the beach with Seamus and good friends to go to the Thrift shops with. Trips out in Genevieve with Kendall. Lots of crochet projects to be getting on with - afghans for my wonderful grandson and step-grandchild, due in September, shawls, cell phone holders........

Went to spend the afternoon with the new Grandparents yesterday and photo albums came out to embarrass Daddy. Harry is the spitting image of Paul. It was wonderful to see the old baby photos!!

My brother got into the Royal Marines the other week. The family isn't too pleased about it but we're supporting him because it's what he wants to do. We just hope that he keeps safe.

Learnt a few more songs, been singing to Harry, Daddy has been singing to Harry too!!

We are all doing pretty well. My constant companion, during the week, Morgan my 3.5 year old grandson:-), and I had a tea party today. We used my miniature tea set from when I was a very young child. It is a blue and white pattern from Japan. The cups are so tiny...they must hold about 30cc of tea and the teapot probably holds about four swallows. I heated about three cups of water and kept pouring it in the teapot. We used all of it! I didn't have any little cakes, so on the teeny plates we had carob-coated raisins. Morgan was so cute. He poured the tea and kept slurping and saying "yum-yum" and telling me how much fun it was. We sat there for at least an hour just having fun, drinking tea and talking. A few hours later he was asking for another tea party. It was such a special time for us. I love him so much.

I'm with you, Sandra, the music & companionship better be BLOODY good. As I round up gumboots, raincoat, parka, extra socks, hot water bottle etc, I'm thinking I must be mad. I'm also considering a slightly bigger tarp. I put away a sopping wet tent after Snalbans (even with the giant tarp), and will probably do so again this time, but at least we would have a dry bit to sit under at breakfast time and when we aren't indoors with the crowd. You'll be glad to know that they have the evening sessions indoors, Sandra.

Otherwise, I'm doing very well. Haven't had a cold or anything for ages - I am thanking Astraforte for that. Ooops - now I've jinxed myself - I'll probably get a cold now. NO I WON'T, she said, thinking positively. My car is running well (it ought to be, with the fortune I keep spending on it!). Only just enough money and not enough to save - in other words, situation normal.

What have I been buying? A set of new cordless phones which I have yet to set up properly, and a lovely flame-effect heater for my fireplace space. Makes you warm just looking at it, and it does a pretty good job of heating the room, too.

My folk club is on tonight. The performers are "Just a TAD and Moz". They are from the Blue Mountains, where it is colder than Sydney, and are very good. One of them, Tom, is a Spooky Man. I just hope this weather doesn't keep my audience away!

I keep thinking of that poem that goes "I'm awfully well for the shape I'm in." I tend to not think about the creaky bits when I'm enjoying myself, although I find myself more and more often preferring a quiet weekend at home to anything else. I must be turning into an old fart. At least most of the time, I'm a happy one.
