Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: GUEST,pete from seven stars link Date: 30 Jul 14 - 01:16 PM been an interesting [ probably not the right word ]day. we took in a toddler at 3 am as an emergency placement who was collected later in the morning to go to her mum, after being taken from the dad. hopefully she did.nt catch anything here as we caught a bug. tommy got it bad but is recovered now. there is difficult stuff in our wider family, but I don't think becky would want me to go into detail, and I think that's wise, but anyone a prayer to spare, thanks. blessings pete. |

Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: gnu Date: 28 Jul 14 - 10:50 AM Subject: CATSPAW's Memorial Picnic From: Big Mick - PM Date: 28 Jul 14 - 10:41 AM Dave. Swan and I spent a lovely afternoon with CATSPAW's family telling stories, playing some music, eating wonderful food, and sharing rememberances of Patrick F. "Spaw" Paaterson. We gathered with Connie and Wayne, Karen, Michael, & Tristan, and the family. I restrung a bunch of instruments and Dave and I sang songs in memory of our friend. We also commiserated with one another as to how Rick and Spaw were eating up all the billable hours at LFPS, Layabouts at Large and for hire. As I was stringing instruments, Karen sat down and told Dave and I she wanted us each to have one of Spaws guitars. To say we were shocked takes understatement to a new level. What an honor. Dave has a great story I have asked him to share. I am sure he will post it here and on our Mudcat. Dave is getting on a plane in a bit and I am jumping in the car for the 5.5 hour drive home. What a wonderful day, thanks to Karen, Michael, Tristan, Connie, Wayne and the rest of the family for a wonderful and memorable day! |

Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: gnu Date: 27 Jul 14 - 12:57 PM Odd that this happened by chance today. I was sending out a broadcast email only for my Canuck friends. I was removing all others and when I saw Spaw was still on this particular list, I had a twinge. Then I edited my contacts. I highlighted Spaw, hit delete and sat crying all over again. A lot of people miss him and my thoughts echo Janie. |

Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Janie Date: 23 Jul 14 - 11:20 PM Sending love and good thoughts. The nature of my work is such that I can't say much about it. Have moved back into public mental health at a time when resources are scarce and treatment teams that support one another are history. Has always been challenging, but I moved out of it when the support dried up, and have had to move back into it to stay employed. Knew it would be hard. Love my work, but the level of need and trauma among clients is so very high, with little these days from agencies to support the clinician in our work. Feel like I'm running on empty recently. Little protection from "secondary trauma." Draining me of the capacity to be present for anyone. Could use some juice. Thanks. |

Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: GUEST,pete from seven stars link Date: 19 Jul 14 - 05:04 PM he is making good progress, thankyou for asking chantylass. he is on his feet much more now and even managed a few stair steps recently. he has vomited a few times recently but his readings have been generally good, and we think he might have bought on the sick by chewing material picked from changing sheets and nappies, so we have needed to be careful. we had a meeting this week with care in the community nurse and doctor, and his SW about long term and end of life care...........just in case we should get complacent about his myotonic dystrophy, eh ! blessings pete. |

Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Janie Date: 18 Jul 14 - 01:45 AM Soft summer night here. unseasonably cool nighttime temperatures. Reminds me of summer at home in the low mountains of my earlier years. Beautiful bug chorus. Really ought to take the time to learn which bugs are singling what, as well as when. Or not. Nature's chorus. We are each of us part of nature's chorus. Part of the beautiful harmony. I feel so content in the brief moments I realize that. Gratitude to all. J |

Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: ranger1 Date: 15 Jul 14 - 11:31 AM Wendy, isn't "normal" lovely? Sorry I haven't been by for a while. Hugs all around, just because I like hugs. Also would like some of the wonderful mojo here to be sent to a young friend of mine named Lauren who is in crisis at the moment. She's suffering from severe depression and I seem to be the only one aware of what she's going through - even though we've never met in person. Thanks to Janie, I've passed on some resources where she can find help, but a few good thoughts, white light and/or prayers beamed her way wouldn't hurt. |

Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: billybob Date: 14 Jul 14 - 06:08 AM Monday morning, a new day and a new week. The sun is out, the sky is blue, mum is knitting!!!! and beautifully too, she hasn't knitted for months but I thought I would try it after breakfast as I think the colouring book and dominoes are not so popular with her at the moment.I am going to risk going upstairs to change the beds and get the wash on.Sounds mundane? But it is normal, joy oh joy I cannot tell you how brilliant " normal" feels! We had a visit from my cousins daughter with her children at the weekend. Six under 8's what fun. Saturday at the beach hut, bangers for lunch with added sand in the sandwiches, sandcastles and trying to stop the tide! Then a day at our daughter's yesterday with the silliest games in the garden ( photos on my FB page if you care to look? Wendy Ann Simon) I still cannot blue clicky here ! Luddite me. So a happy normal weekend, feeling so much better , thank you for all your love Rainbows. much love and mojo all round Wendy xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: JennieG Date: 14 Jul 14 - 01:48 AM Hopping on board the good ship Jane to see how everyone is doing......Wendy, you are amazing, just keep on keeping on! Nigel, I hope you can ahead of those challenges. We are focussing on our new family member now - our expected grandkid - although my brother who has gone will always be with me. It will be a well travelled kid too, it is currently in Switzerland with its mum who is performing in the Basel Tattoo; she plays French horn with an Australian Army Corps band. |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: GUEST,ChanteyLass on cell Date: 13 Jul 14 - 09:09 PM Nigel, thank you for telling us more about your health challenges. It sounds like I should double the dose of mojo I'm sending! A few months ago I was having trouble with my phone connection to the web. My son came in and set up wifi, which was lovely. Then I started having trouble with that. It seemed to be the power strip that everything was plugged into, so I checked it in another outlet and it wasn't working. Last night I bought a new strip, but I still can't get my connection to work. Using my phone is tedious. I'll read often but post less, and I'll still send mojo, love, and prayers to all. |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: gnu Date: 13 Jul 14 - 11:52 AM I hear ya, maeve. Livin 'Down Home' brings winters and summers so overtly opposite, it minds me a what my old man used ta say about ridin a motorpickle... freeze yer ears and roast yer nuts. |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: maeve Date: 13 Jul 14 - 07:19 AM Our part of Maine got about 4 inches of rain, gnu, but no troubles with electricity. When I'm home we're working outside from about 5 AM until dark, so staying cool isn't in the picture - with the bird chorus at dawn and the tree frogs trilling at dusk, we're fine. Need any snails? There are thousands...our chooks are eating them up! I found yet another active robin nest in the pollarded Box Elder in the peony bed. Nigel, thinking about your friend Ian... Do you not realize you have continued Ian's legacy of encouragement to the crew and passengers right here on The Rainbow, as well as to me regarding song composition? He lives! Janie- Despite the heat here, we've had so much rain my Bloodroot patch is still in leaf. Last spring the Purple Gem rhododendrons bloomed twice. I wonder if that will happen again? Fair winds to all, Maeve |
