Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Mysha Date: 15 Jan 17 - 09:48 AM Hi, Yeah, I'm hanging in there. (Apparently I missed a bit of rough sea, but I expect that's for the best for me.) I think I overdid things a bit, this week. Busy at work, plus the people from the auction came to take away stuff for auction. That was a bit too much, though I'd parked the emotionally-laden stuff out of the way. Curiously, I don't mind the idea of the auction that much. It's just stuff, and they are going to put prices on it, etc. It's more difficult to sell something myself, as it feels like cheating: Things that are of no value to me, but that I have to claim are worth something so buyers can pay for them. Oh well, if that, and getting rained, hailed and snowed upon in yesterday's weather, are the worst of my problems, I should count my blessings. Bye, Mysha |

Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Nigel Paterson Date: 14 Jan 17 - 05:55 AM So pleased to hear from you, Wendy. I was fairly sure you wouldn't be in harm's way, but there's always that element of doubt. Aah, a beach hut at the Naze...memories of beach cricket & my Father charging down the pristine beach in his woollen(!) bathing trunks to dive into the sea. I agree, we must meet this year. Gnu, some folks on the east coast did get flooded out, but the storm surge turned out to be weaker than forecast. A bad start to the new year, but not the catastrophe of biblical proportions that was expected. As for the solar panels...words fail me! Set a course for the sun, Mr. Mate, With Love, Nigel & Ann. |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: billybob Date: 14 Jan 17 - 05:23 AM Morning all, Hi Nigel, all safe here in sunny ( !!) Frinton. Yes they were very worried and I do feel for those who were evacuated from Jaywick, but if anyone goes there they will see that the dwellings are small holiday type chalets and below sea level , the sea wall is only a couple of feet high. Many people drowned there in the 1953 floods. A lot of folk braved it out but if the wind had not dropped just after midnight there would have been a dreadful disaster. My thoughts were with our local coastguard and lifeboat crew , many of them are our friends and were out two nights running in very cold and unkind weather keeping everyone safe! We have had a lovely New Year, too much "bubbly" maybe but once a year eh? Billy has now started a very bad cough and fever but antibiotics kicking in, hopefully he will feel better soon, I do worry as his immune system cannot fight on its own but his last check up with his consultant was good so fingers crossed. We are celebrating our youngest granddaughter's 8th Birthday tomorrow, today she is taking 17 friends roller skating in Colchester for a Birthday treat , bless mummy and daddy they are very brave or s......? Good news the family have bought a new ,to us, beach hut at the Naze, my favourite beach so this summer Nigel and Ann we WILL get you down one Sunday for a proper get together! wishing everyone on board lots of love Wendy xxxx |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: gnu Date: 13 Jan 17 - 04:30 PM Yeah, there are a few Mudcatters that I know that are there as well, Nigel. One reported that all was okay so far but that, before the storm, massive flocks of birds were on the go and crapping all over his solar panels. That scenario never occurred to me. |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Nigel Paterson Date: 13 Jan 17 - 07:50 AM Any 'Catters living on or near the east coast of England...Suffolk & Essex in particular? Following the severe weather warnings, are you safe & well? I heard on the news this morning, at least two thousand people have been evacuated inland for their own safety. There is at least one crew member who lives in that neck of the woods...hoping to hear from them. With Love, Nigel. |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Nigel Paterson Date: 12 Jan 17 - 06:54 AM 12th January, 2017, our fifth anniversary...how wonderful! My, we've covered some miles. None of this would have been possible without Max's vision & the creation of Mudcat, so please, if you can afford a penny or two, make a donation...Mudcat is one of a kind. Joe, thank you for your kind, clarifying words. Thank you to all who visit here, regulars, passers-by, whomsoever ye may be. Wishing everyone a "calm sea & a prosperous voyage", Nigel. |

Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Nigel Paterson Date: 09 Jan 17 - 01:38 PM Jan 12th is our fifth anniversary. It is the date Jane received her diagnosis. I reached out for help & you responded swiftly, unselfishly & as it turned out, unstintingly. Unwritten 'protocols' regarding disclosure, privacy, advice-giving & support have evolved naturally over time. It is my earnest wish that our voyage continues thus. Ann & I send love to you all & wish you a very Happy New Year. |

Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: keberoxu Date: 08 Jan 17 - 02:15 PM An apology from me is due to all at Jane's Rainbow in particular, and at the Mudcat Café in general. I regret any offense given. It isn't the first time someone has taken me to task for line-crossing, and knowing me it won't be the last, no promises there. The beauty of the Mudcat is that civil exchanges and corrections are possible in this community, as well as interactions outside civility. I sincerely appreciate Maeve's example setting. Thanks everybody for putting up with me, and I'm sorry for giving offense. |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Janie Date: 08 Jan 17 - 12:47 PM Good advise, Maeve. I know I have occasionally not been sufficiently mindful of that. Rap and Pat - time for the two of you and your extended family to have a long, smooth stretch of calm and contentment. I'm sending out ethereal vibes to the ether to try to entice the Universe to go along with that plan. I'm accepting that my leg is never going to be 100% and also figuring out that I can do a lot of stuff regardless, just not as well or as strenuously as I once could. Not letting fear hold me back as much, and think I have figured out the difference between pain as an alarm system and pain as something to not worry about. |
Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Donuel Date: 08 Jan 17 - 12:27 PM Here is hoping Pat's tumble will not require surgery or a long term cane. |

Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: keberoxu Date: 07 Jan 17 - 12:37 PM Ouch, and ouch, and again ouch. Such a shame about your sister and the mess that she has left for her brothers to clean up after her, Rap. But dealing with the mess now means that those things can be put in their place once and for all. Hoping that your family makes decent progress with that sad task before you and your wife return home. |

Subject: RE: Jane's Rainbow: for all needing support & comfort From: Rapparee Date: 01 Jan 17 - 09:26 PM Well, this has been an exciting day! We were going to go to my brother's place a couple of hours driving away to visit and work over some of the problems my sister has left. So we had lunch and on the way back to the car -- Pat took a tumble. A ride in an ambulance ensued, as did four and half hours in the emergency room. Dislocated left index finger and a banged up knee. The dislocation has been reduced and she's sitting across the room with ice on her knee. I do hope that this is a foreshadowing of a really good year. You know, get the bad out of the way early.... |
