Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: GUEST,Pete the hat, Date: 12 Sep 07 - 12:03 AM What a fantastic Knockholt and to see the field so full on the Sunday at 1300 hrs was for me unheard off? usually people are gone by the time I emerge from me tent on the Sunday.I have given my tent away because it was to small to comfortably accomodate both me and my liver.Take care of it Maria you wont believe the places that tents been. I shall invest in a much bigger tent for June 2008.thanks to everyone singers musicians cooks who made for me this the best Knockholt so far? Thanks Mick and sue if it was not for you? The Saturday drink at the Tally Ho will remain firmly in my memory so many people came down. You should have heard that leopard hiss when me and Pat disturbed her having a piss. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: GUEST,The Barden of England sans cookie Date: 11 Sep 07 - 05:00 PM As promised:- Ingredients 1 medium onion 2 fresh birdeye chillies (or ordinary chillies if birdeye aren't available) 6 cloves of garlic 2 tins chopped tomatoes 1 sweet pepper (any colour) Dried Tarragon Dried mixed herbs Tomato puree Garlic puree Dark Soy Sauce (instead of salt) Sugar Olive oil Method Finely chop the Sweet pepper, onion, chillies and garlic. If you have a food processor then put these in with about half a tin of the chopped tomatoes and blend for about 15 seconds. Then add a desert spoon of dried tarragon, and a teaspoon of mixed herbs. Add the rest of the first tin of tomatoes and blend for another 15 seconds. Place in a microwave safe bowl and zap for 10 minutes. Take out of microwave and add 2 x 6 inch worms of tomato puree and the same of garlic puree. Add a teaspoon of Dark Soy Sauce, a teaspoon of sugar and a desert spoon of Olive Oil and finally the other tin of chopped tomatoes (you can of course use ordinary tinned tomatoes and chop them yourself). Zap for another 10minutes in the microwave and allow to rest for about 5 minutes. Taste – and add whatever you need from the above ingredients if needed – and finally enjoy. The resulting 'Arrabiatta' should suffice for 4 servings if you add cooked bacon, mushrooms or whatever takes your fancy. The pasta I'll leave up to you John Barden |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: Girl Friday Date: 10 Sep 07 - 09:14 PM What a wonderful five days. I didn't s***t myself. But whilst sat, heard strange rumblings from nearby. This was from the other loo being moved. Surely they wouldn't.. would they?... I had arisen when they tried to launch me into space. A song was written and duly performed on Saturday. The highlight for me is the sight and sound of Richard Bridge dancing around the fire singing along to Four-by-four! Yes- you did.... what fun!!! Roll on next summer!!!! |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: Dilligaf Date: 10 Sep 07 - 07:51 PM Both but it was lovely to get away and very drunk with such good company and relax. Just wonder what your on Richard you said something nice for a change are you sickening for something? xx |

Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: Dipsodeb Date: 09 Sep 07 - 03:50 PM Fantastic week! Sob Sob back to reality. No one seemed very keen to leave today... :-( Finally got to bed at 5am this morning, me and Aaron the last to give in! Roll on next year. Thanks to everyone who made the weekend special. The one priceless and memorable bit of the weekend was Pat and Pete trying to move the toilets into a better position whilst unknown to them Sue Tuckey was still on it.. You should have heard the scream I think she might have sh**t herself LOL *Debs* |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: Richard Bridge Date: 09 Sep 07 - 03:47 PM PS - John, what is the exact recipe for that arrabiata sauce? |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: Richard Bridge Date: 09 Sep 07 - 03:41 PM It's almost always teh weekend nearest to the Summer Solstice. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: The Barden of England Date: 09 Sep 07 - 03:00 PM That was AWESOME!!! Richard is spot on. Wonderful harmonies, great company, laid back and utterly enjoyable. It's far too long until the next one - but I'm happy to wait. I'll second the thanks to Sue and Mike - special people who help my world go round. Thanks to all who were there - here's to the next one. p.s. For KAMPERVAN - Keep your eyes out on the FOLKMOB site and also here for the next one. It'll be something to do with Knockholt, and I suspect it will be sometime in mid-June 2008. It's really not to be missed. John Barden |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: naughtyforty Date: 09 Sep 07 - 03:00 PM Thanks to every one for making my fortieth birthday one to remember. I especially enjoyed the balloon and the cake. And the comments in the card were great. Note the user name Sue!! For those of you who left before 3.00pm we had the release the balloon into the wild because it just wouldn't fit in my car!!! However, Isabella performed the ceremony with great style and it went off into the wild blue yonder with a little note attached. Thanks to everyone for making my friend Maria welcome - she absolutely loved the weekend and will definitely be back next year. Thanks to Pete the Hat for the tent, she is extremely grateful. Hope to see some of you in October half term when I hope to get up for the Wednesday session. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: GUEST,Dave Kenningham Date: 09 Sep 07 - 02:07 PM Thanks to everyone who supported the festival. What an amazing amount of talent over the four nights. This one was one of the best that I have been to. Great singarounds, superb weather, good friends and a pub just down the road for the steak and ale pies. Special thanks to Sue and Mike. Without them we would not have been there. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: Kampervan Date: 09 Sep 07 - 01:31 PM This sounds as though it was a great few days, is there a website for the festival? Where and when is next years meeting? How do we get tickets/details? So many questions, any answers? Cheers K/van |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: Essex Girl Date: 09 Sep 07 - 01:20 PM Great weekend, didn't want to come home. What a lot of empty bottles and cans we cleared up!! (Who was drinking the cream sherry? there was still some left in the bottle)Thanks Kevin for the vodka, and Annie for the hazelnut liqueur, both of which did wonders for my hangover. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: GUEST,woodsie Date: 09 Sep 07 - 11:57 AM Right on Richard a great five days - most peoplpe were still there when I left at 13:00 the weather was great. Thanks to all folkmob for organising this and to the fantastic musicians & singers. Special thanks to Graham who although not a folkmob member anymopre always comes an helps erect our marquee and replenish/montitor the fire. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: Richard Bridge Date: 09 Sep 07 - 10:06 AM What a splendid chill-out weekend. Field, Fire, Friends, Frigid water, Fart-huts, and of course the Fabric retreat in case of rain which happily stayed away. But the Farmer had apparently read this thread and locked his girls up three fields away, so no sheep! No Fights (although we did hear a bit of nagging going on) Fantastic camp-fire cuisine by Pete Some great music round the fire, some roaring harmony moments (or was that the beer talking?), a HUGE amount of alcohol consumed by many. My sleep habits are not good (and stress doesn't help) and I got the best night's sleep I've had for over a year. Just a great unwinder... |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: GUEST,Woodsie Date: 05 Sep 07 - 01:55 AM Well here we go I'll see you folks smetime over the next 4 days! |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: Dilligaf Date: 04 Sep 07 - 04:06 PM Just bring the vegetables it might just attract the sheep for the men bit like a box of chocolates for ladies,xx |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: Essex Girl Date: 04 Sep 07 - 03:18 PM Sue, how come you know all about rams then? See you on Thursday, I've been told that the meal has no theme, just bring whatever you fancy - ( No lamb!!!)and share. As I seem to have rather a lot of veggies I may make a vegetable curry. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: Richard Bridge Date: 04 Sep 07 - 02:55 PM Definitely not me! And I'm not having sheep in my trailer unless they wear nappies. Now there's a thought, paedophilia with sheep, mmmmmmmmmmm! You be careful, you'll give Kev the hump, which is quite incompatible with sheep. If you want a big one I have two in the garage. (Tents, that is. Jacqui's old two-bedroom framie and an 8-scout Lillywhite Frowde with alas no scouts otherwise a certain tenor might join us for the weekend...). |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: Dilligaf Date: 04 Sep 07 - 01:31 PM Does that mean I get to share my tent with you Richard, The sheep and Kev better bring the big one then unless you boys have a big one, tent that is or is there room in your vardo for all of us?xx |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: Richard Bridge Date: 04 Sep 07 - 08:57 AM Cat, bag, out??? Twice? |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: Kev The Clogs Date: 04 Sep 07 - 06:53 AM hiya, I'll be turning up about two on Friday afternoon. Wouldn't miss it for the world after my first visit earlier in the year. Looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend with like minded Caters - August has been great, but HECTIC - I need mellow, and Knockholt fits the bill perfectly. See you on Friday then. Kev ps Hoffmeister, I'll have a word with some of the sheep and put in a good word for you. Dilligaf, I'm hurt! :-) |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: Girl Friday Date: 03 Sep 07 - 08:10 PM I think that the above comments from Dilligaf demonstrate the need for a midwinter camp. Brrrr... that'd be when the ram's there. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: Dilligaf Date: 03 Sep 07 - 07:21 PM ME coming, Friday after work be there 5ish, Good luck finding some one to hook you up linda and good luck with the sheep boys, why are there never any real rams around just ewes? |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: Richard Bridge Date: 03 Sep 07 - 04:19 PM Dang, Essex Girl, you were just getting used to this "life of leisure" business too, no? You have SUCH a lot of catching up to do. The rate some things are changing, the sheep will have to do a bit of running to keep up (not for me, of course, but on some others...) But I'm sure that there will be plenty with stories to tell... |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: Essex Girl Date: 03 Sep 07 - 08:15 AM Have to go for a couple of interviews Wednesday and Thursday morning (need to get a job now I've spent most of the redundancy money)but I should be down Thursday afternoon providing I find a neighbour to help me hook up as son will be in Ibiza. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: Girl Friday Date: 02 Sep 07 - 04:05 PM Picked up a veritable carload of wood from my dad's today. So we could get the fire roaring early this time. It'll be a close run thing as to who gets the prettiest sheep as R and J are arriving on the same day. There could be stiff competition from Melodeonboy. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: GUEST,woodsie Date: 02 Sep 07 - 01:27 PM Oh no not the beatles. I should be in the field at abou 11:00 wednesday. Set up de tent, build de fire, go to de pub! |

Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: melodeonboy Date: 31 Aug 07 - 12:25 PM I should also be rolling up (figuratively speaking!) on Friday. |

Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: woodsie Date: 31 Aug 07 - 04:09 AM Only 5 days to go |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: woodsie Date: 28 Aug 07 - 05:27 AM Refresh Yes John, a couple people have done the song Autumn Leaves at FolkMob recently including a superb duet with flute and alto sax by paul & Sara and a stunning acappela by Debbie 'n Pat's daughter Sarah. So the title stuck in my mind when I posted this the name thing is just something I've been making up make up for each knockholt and they're usually song titles: Midsummer Madness (Not Yet Written) Autumn Almanac (Kinks) Here Comes Summer (Undertones) Autumn Leaves (Nat King Cole) Suggestions for next summer welcome. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: Richard Bridge Date: 12 Aug 07 - 05:49 PM School at Broadstairs as flat as a pancake this year (last year too) and nothing in the Moor and Coast tent either. Also, I felt very slighted in the sinaground in the Yacht Club this year when it seemed to me that a certain big name implied that I ought to have opened the door for him (when to do so would have meant reaching across him and effectively preventing his egress). I have had to leave Broadstairs early this year owing to excess work, but it seems to me even less folkie this year so far. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: The Barden of England Date: 12 Aug 07 - 04:22 PM I'll certainly be at the Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival (what a posh name now too). Sometime on the Friday afternoon I suspect, caravan in tow, but without my significant other half. Before any of you ask if I've had liposuction, I mean the lovely Jan who's dancing at the Maidstone beer festival that weekend, so I'll have to chat up the sheep before Ricard Bridge grabs the prettiest one!! John Barden p.s. Melodeon Boys' report is correct. I'm critical of Broadstairs Festival for I can't understand how they have all those musicians there all week with nowhere to go before the hours of 12:30 and after 14:30. Sidmouth sessions start at 09:00 and go on to 03:00 the next day every day - and don't tel me that it happens at the school as what do you do if you ain't got a season ticket. No decent bus service from the campsite to town either - Sidmouth run one every 15 minutes until 02:45 am every day. Need I say more |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: GUEST,Keith The Crazy Date: 12 Aug 07 - 06:15 AM I always have a good time - arriving at 21:27 without fail and singing "The Gambler" & "Gypsy Woman". |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: GUEST,Jugband Blues Date: 11 Aug 07 - 05:44 AM Refresh - Had a good time at Orpington last night! |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: GUEST,woodsie Date: 10 Aug 07 - 11:42 AM I hope he does turn up at knockholt. There's no fear of time running out there. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: Richard Bridge Date: 10 Aug 07 - 01:07 AM He's usually there, but yes we both hate the way a sing gets going nicely then the allotted time expires and one is turfed out.... |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: melodeonboy Date: 09 Aug 07 - 09:11 PM Are you sure he's going to Broadstairs? When I met him at Sidmouth he was rather critical of Broadstairs. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: Richard Bridge Date: 09 Aug 07 - 04:40 PM He is currently in Sidemouth and will thereafter be in Broadchairs, before you can expect elucidation. |
Subject: RE: Knockholt Autumn Leaves Mini-Festival From: GUEST Date: 09 Aug 07 - 01:15 PM Anyone know if the great john barden is making an appearance?
Thanks. -Joe Offer- |
