Subject: RE: BS: Kendall needs good thoughts as well From: John MacKenzie Date: 22 Dec 07 - 05:17 AM That's Sleepy and Grumpy accounted for; now where are the other 5? |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall needs good thoughts as well From: jacqui.c Date: 22 Dec 07 - 04:39 AM Gnu - it's a shame you ain't closer to Maine. We could put you and the Cap'n together - a rerun of Grumpy Old Men! No snow here, it's just cold and damp and grey. |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall needs good thoughts as well From: gnu Date: 22 Dec 07 - 04:08 AM I am, indeed, a Canuck. A Maritimer. A New Brunswicker. For those who may not know the geography, follow the coast of Maine and there we are. Trubrit... April '82 was a good one. Other than when I was a lad and used snow shoes a couple of times to get to the living room window to shovel so we could see more than a crack of sky, the worst one I remember was in February around '82. Can't recall the exact year. But, I remember saying to my fellow employees at about noon, "You guys can stay here if you want. I am going home." I added something about idiots under my breath. 1.62m in less than 24h. Kendall... how ya feelin, buddy? Besides not grumpy? I have been housebound a week tomorrow. I am not the least bit grumpy either. Why do people say things like that? I mean, what the frig is their friggin problem, EH? |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall needs good thoughts as well From: katlaughing Date: 21 Dec 07 - 11:40 PM But Kendall is 100% pure D Maineiac...but ya better smile when ya call him that.**VBG*** |

Subject: RE: BS: Kendall needs good thoughts as well From: TRUBRIT Date: 21 Dec 07 - 10:24 PM And Gnu -- you say 'sod off' -- and you clearly equally encumbered with snow -- do you, too, perchance, live in the North of England or even - ah - Scotland??? |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall needs good thoughts as well From: TRUBRIT Date: 21 Dec 07 - 10:19 PM Amos -- YOU ARE PUSHING YOUR LUCK!!!!!!! I had to have my car towed out of the driveway the other day because fancy dancy Lexuses (Lexi??) don't deal well with the snow. Becca72 --I was here for the great April storm of 1982.....I never saw that much snow in my life. And at the time - I made a deal with God -- God, I said, this is enough -- I don't need any more snow........; and people wonder why I am a non believer. Giok, up there in the north of Scotland you probably are dealing with more snow than we are....... |

Subject: RE: BS: Kendall needs good thoughts as well From: Amos Date: 20 Dec 07 - 06:36 PM Far to the East of my office there is a wide plain that ends ramping up into a chain of mountains called the Cuyamacas, the tallest of which being, appropriately, Mount Cuyamaca. From out on the lawn you can look out and see it profiled against the distant Eastern sky, sticking up into the blue. And recently, it changed from brown to white, for reasons no-one could explain. Perhaps this is the "snow" you are speaking of? A |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall needs good thoughts as well From: Becca72 Date: 20 Dec 07 - 05:49 PM Deborah, Dad and I were just talking the other day about how when I was a kid (and probably him, too) we almost always had snow for Halloween...and the time in April when we got over 2 feet in one storm (I remember having a couple of snow days off from school, mostly). |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall needs good thoughts as well From: TRUBRIT Date: 20 Dec 07 - 05:38 PM Kendall -- so good you are feeling better - we'll try for dinner this Sunday! Subject: RE: BS: Kendall needs good thoughts as well From: SINSULL Date: 20 Dec 07 - 12:41 PM Just a thought...I wonder if the Captain would have willingly shared his meatloaf AND mashed potatoes if they had arrived earlier. I wonder if there will be any scraps for poor Seamus. SINS |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall needs good thoughts as well From: gnu Date: 20 Dec 07 - 12:35 PM I have been trying to get a cushie government job so that I could still run my business in the afternoons, but, in weather like this, I would miss the shorter commute... the farthest I have to go now is to the kitchen for tea. |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall needs good thoughts as well From: Becca72 Date: 20 Dec 07 - 11:46 AM Oh, I got here 2 hours early (so I can leave earlier tonight) but I have a 17 mile commute and very little of that trip had been plowed. Good thing for Slip Resistance and a manual transmission... |

Subject: RE: BS: Kendall needs good thoughts as well From: SINSULL Date: 20 Dec 07 - 11:20 AM And thanks for digging my house out so I could get an oil delivery - $600+. Subject: RE: BS: Kendall needs good thoughts as well From: gnu Date: 20 Dec 07 - 04:29 AM ranger1.... Kendall wouldn't keep the meatloaf to himself! I am sure Seamus enjoyed some as well. Sure, I'll go to the basement. I've got a TV and a woodstove down there... and some meatloaf in the freezer. One of the best I ever made. |

Subject: RE: BS: Kendall needs good thoughts as well From: jacqui.c Date: 18 Dec 07 - 06:52 PM LOL Kitty. Driving prevented the tiles from being outed, unlike tonight when I got a lift to Bennington and was able to get lots of tiles out! |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall needs good thoughts as well From: Herga Kitty Date: 18 Dec 07 - 04:46 PM Just to set the record straight.... Jacqui wasn't on the tiles last night. At least, not while she was in the Pinner Social Club. I think it's the first time we've experienced synchronised crochet at Herga (thanks to Jacqui and Mrs Hoveringbob). Kitty |

Subject: RE: BS: Kendall needs good thoughts as well From: SINSULL Date: 18 Dec 07 - 08:38 AM This has turned into a truly disgusting thread. Salt water up my nose and it is only 8:30 in the AM. Gross. |

Subject: RE: BS: Kendall needs good thoughts as well From: gnu Date: 18 Dec 07 - 06:17 AM Speaking of herbs and home remedies and such, I caught a cold in the hospital while I was on my recent vacation. Don't know if I or anyone else ever mentioned this on any other threads, so... Ya know that there Nasal Mist stuff what ya sprays up yer nose ta open er up? Well, screw that stuff. After ya gargle with warm salt water, use a teaspoon and suck it up yer nose. I find two teaspoons up each blowhole works best. And, ya can do it more than twice in 24h, unlike that Nasal Crap they sell in the shops. "But, my noseholes are slammed shut tighter 'n Aunt Sally's coffin." you say? Take a straw and stick it in the salt water. Cap the end with yer finger and tilt yer head back. Let 'er go and then cap yer blowhole with yer finger and shove 'er in while ya snuff. Once they open up, ya can go back to the teaspoon. No need fer them fancy and expensive "doppers" what they sell in the shops. |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall needs good thoughts as well From: Liz the Squeak Date: 18 Dec 07 - 03:58 AM Giok - I looked up... all I saw was the ceiling. Now I have a ricked neck. Kendall my darling, your fragrant beloved is well and rested after a night out on the tiles, so no worries there. Now get back in that cellar and behave! Seriously, a huge collective sigh of relief here, take care it doesn't happen again! LTS |
Subject: RE: BS: Kendall needs good thoughts as well From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 18 Dec 07 - 02:38 AM speaking of ignorant Doctors - my heart specialist went on a treat (self-prescribing) when I told him I was taking magnesium. He wouldn't listen when I said a friend was told to take it by an equally eminent heart specialist in another major teaching hospital. Nor did he want to talk to this colleague, or read the literature on he subject. Naturally I still take magnesium, which is effective for muscular problems (hearts are muscles, too) |
