Subject: RE: Mudcat Baby: A Girl!!!!! From: GUEST,MAG at work Date: 31 Jan 03 - 06:05 PM Actually, she is remarkably UNwrinkly -- has that filled-out (and smug) look of one who swiped a coupla extra weeks in the egg -- I'm surprised she doesn't have teeth and a full head of hair. Look at it as two less weeks until she sleeps through the night. Lili Ani -- Leilani -- L'il Yanni -- O the possibilities. And except the the chin dimple, a remarkable resemblance to Max. Just look at those eyes. |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Baby: A Girl!!!!! From: catspaw49 Date: 31 Jan 03 - 01:20 PM Sorry SRS.....I already bought William Wegman's Weimaraner puppies calendar.........and I do love babies, but ya' gotta' step back and look at the facts too!!! They all look like Kendall............oh the horror........the humanity.........I can't watch.......... Spaw |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Baby: A Girl!!!!! From: Amos Date: 31 Jan 03 - 01:13 PM Babies are wrinkled up, pruney, reddish-splotchy little suckers That's why we're suspecting Kendall, Spaw!! :>) A |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Baby: A Girl!!!!! From: Stilly River Sage Date: 31 Jan 03 - 12:00 PM Spaw, go down to your local bookstore and take a look at this year's calendar by Anne Geddes. Here is a link to Amazon's ad for her calendar. All of these are newborns, under three weeks of age. Fall in love all over again. ;-) SRS |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Baby: A Girl!!!!! From: Night Owl Date: 31 Jan 03 - 10:06 AM refresh Grandparents ask how/what the new baby's doing every couple hours. It's been a couple days...... ok,ok,ok.....has she sung her first song yet?? bg |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Baby: A Girl!!!!! From: catspaw49 Date: 30 Jan 03 - 07:59 PM ......and Spaw is once again making lewd suggestions. Also SRS....I'm with Sorch.........We all get really hung up on kids because we love 'em so much. When we adopted Tris we were lucky enough to bring him straight home from the hospital and when I looked at him I thought he was the most beautiful thing in the world. But prior to becoming a Dad and all AND if you really take a good look at any baby, you have to agree that "beautiful baby" is an oxymoron. Egads what a frightening thing they are. Wan't it Cosby who said they "didn't look done and needed to go back in the oven for awhile?" Actually when I look at how grossly lacking we are as a species, I am constantly amazed that we are at the top of the chain...at the moment. Puppies are cute. Babies are wrinkled up, pruney, reddish-splotchy little suckers. But like all of you, I find them just adorable. Spaw |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Baby: A Girl!!!!! From: SINSULL Date: 30 Jan 03 - 05:51 PM And now we fast forward to Sweet 16 where Miss Lily, who now insists on "Lila", is on stage, golden hair to the waist, guitar (a Martin, of course) in hand. Big Sister Alexis plays fiddle, she too with waist length hair but hers is drawn back off her face in a silver clasp fashioned by Don Meixner or maybe bone by AllanC. The sisters are clad in layers of bubble wrap, modest but intriguing. And down front, led by a wild potato thonged Mick, is an army of hairy old men and tie dyed old women all keeping a wary eye out for any young man who dares to show interest. In the entrance sits Max with Uncle Pene at a table full of CDs. The loving girls have generously set aside part of the table for their ersatz relatives' cassettes, CDs, 8-tracks, and LPs but put a firm foot down when Dad trotted out the 18th Annual Nude Mudcat Calendar. And in the last row, hanging on every note, is a besotted and middle-aged MattR trying to quiet the ever curmudgeonly Kendall who is stage whispering about Taylors and Martins and Apollos. Just can't wait! |

Subject: RE: Mudcat Baby: A Girl!!!!! From: Stilly River Sage Date: 30 Jan 03 - 04:18 PM Sorcha, that observation went over with a thud--stopped this happy thread in it's tracks. I don't believe any of us wrote happy congratulations with blinders on! I can only assume from the observations here (and the photos) that not only is this a beautiful child, but that Kendall must be pretty cute also! SRS |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Baby: A Girl!!!!! From: Sorcha Date: 30 Jan 03 - 12:11 AM No, Charlie, all newborns are basically ugly except to their familes---which makes us Lily Ani's family. 2-3 months are cute-----and at 4 yrs.they are "fairly civilized". Let's see how the Dear Girl is at the Terrible Twos............. Auntie Sorch, mom of 2 Both of whom had Terrible Twos............. |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Baby: A Girl!!!!! From: Deda Date: 30 Jan 03 - 12:10 AM Brava, bravo. Optimam fortunam! (Latin - best of luck!) A line from Edna St V Millay: "With him for a sire and her for a dam, What should I be, but just what I am?" She's absolutely perfect. Perfect name(s), perfect face, perfect feet, perfect everything. Congrats and great blessings to all. Congrats to the Big Sister. We don't mean to overlook you, and most of this fuss over the new kid on the block will settle down very soon and you can get on with your new job. |
Subject: RE: Mudcat Baby: A Girl!!!!! From: Charlie Baum Date: 29 Jan 03 - 11:56 PM Congratulations to Lili Ani, Max, Emily, and the whole family (aunts, uncles, grandparents?)... She's so cute in the pictures, but then again, all newborns are kind of cute. We'll see how cute you think she is at age 4 when she keeps waking you up in the wee wee hours of the morning. If you need a fun guidebook for rearing her, I can recommend George Bernard Shaw's "Parents and Children." His basic thesis is that each new child is an attempt by God to start over fresh, and interference on the part of the parents can only muck it up. --Charlie Baum |
