Subject: RE: BS: Leather-a safe topic for mudcat? From: Liz the Squeak Date: 15 May 07 - 04:55 AM I was thinking along the same lines but with a 'cow on the cradle'... but I like the idea of sheep in black leather ... But now that takes me to nights in white satin.... Oh dear... Nurse! The SCREENS!!! LTS |
Subject: RE: BS: Leather-a safe topic for mudcat? From: GUEST,Scoville at scanner again Date: 14 May 07 - 10:38 AM Oops, sorry about the non-post. I was thinking of the parody of "Crow on the Cradle" that my friend used to sing: "Sheep in black leather and cows into porn, Now is the time for a child to be born, He'll laugh at the moon and he'll hide from the sun, If he's like me, he'll make lousy puns, Sang the crow on the cradle." |

Subject: RE: BS: Leather-a safe topic for mudcat? From: Rapparee Date: 14 May 07 - 09:02 AM (I knew that, Peace. Just joshin' ya a bit. And isn't lamb gut a form of leather?) |
Subject: RE: BS: Leather-a safe topic for mudcat? From: 3refs Date: 14 May 07 - 06:41 AM I have 2 sets of "Leathers". One set I ride in, the other I weld in. No, I don't think you could replace either with a synthetic material that would last as long or protect as well. Most of our leather supplies come from the abattoir, so should we just throw it out, or try to make some use of it. |
Subject: RE: BS: Leather-a safe topic for mudcat? From: Liz the Squeak Date: 14 May 07 - 04:42 AM Given the failure rate of condoms, I think I'd be wary of putting my money in one. LTS |
Subject: RE: BS: Leather-a safe topic for mudcat? From: Peace Date: 14 May 07 - 12:30 AM Condoms are often referred to as safes in Canada (the eastern part of the country, anyway). |
Subject: RE: BS: Leather-a safe topic for mudcat? From: Rapparee Date: 13 May 07 - 07:07 PM Wouldn't leather safes be pretty easy to break into? |
Subject: RE: BS: Leather-a safe topic for mudcat? From: Peace Date: 12 May 07 - 11:45 PM Oh. Here (stupid me) I thought this thread was about leather safes. I thought you were positing different materials. |
Subject: RE: BS: Leather-a safe topic for mudcat? From: JohnInKansas Date: 12 May 07 - 11:39 PM Peace - I don't see any reference to either vinyl or to latex. John |
Subject: RE: BS: Leather-a safe topic for mudcat? From: Peace Date: 12 May 07 - 11:30 PM The thread starter beat you to it, John. Read the title. |
Subject: RE: BS: Leather-a safe topic for mudcat? From: JohnInKansas Date: 12 May 07 - 11:25 PM Is no one concerned that leather comes from poor animals? Remember when they justified concentrating on naugahyde, under the pretext that poor baby naugas feel no pain when they're slaughtered. The unfortunate things were driven nearly to extinction. And certainly we must have at least a couple of members who could cogently discuss the immensely preferable use of latex and vinyl - for special effects. John |

Subject: RE: BS: Leather-a safe topic for mudcat? From: Rapparee Date: 12 May 07 - 09:37 PM I make things from leather, sometimes. Right now I need a fairly large brass buckle to make a baldric. I'll get it one of these days -- even in the Wild West danged few people carry rapiers or smallswords. |
Subject: RE: BS: Leather-a safe topic for mudcat? From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 12 May 07 - 08:44 PM "When we're all in Leather"... anybody else heard that song? :-P |
Subject: RE: BS: Leather-a safe topic for mudcat? From: GUEST,Scoville at Dad's Date: 12 May 07 - 07:04 PM Just had my black lace-up cowboy boots resoled. The last pair I had went through three soles and lasted 11 years before the uppers gave out. I need to polish the brown ones, though. They're looking pretty dismal. |

Subject: RE: BS: Leather-a safe topic for mudcat? From: Jean(eanjay) Date: 12 May 07 - 07:00 PM My leather suite is starting to wear. I've been a bit slack in the past but I'm putting cream on it now to protect it. Is there anything else I can do besides not use it? |
