Subject: RE: BS: Anyone else seen the new Indiana Jones? From: Cluin Date: 10 Nov 08 - 04:07 PM I was disappointed that Indiana Jones said "nucular". |
Subject: RE: BS: Anyone else seen the new Indiana Jones? From: lefthanded guitar Date: 16 Jun 08 - 05:50 PM Loved the film - thought it was the best Indy ever made. Lots of humor, action and GREAT photography, tumbling down the waterfalls was amazing! Love sci fi, so I was sold pretty early on. I'm a sucker for romance so the ending was perfect for me. As far as Harrison, I think he looks terrific for 65. Heck, he looks terrific for 50. Rock on Indy!!! |

Subject: RE: BS: Anyone else seen the new Indiana Jones? From: irishenglish Date: 16 Jun 08 - 11:14 AM I hate to admit it, but my wife and I really did not like this one overall. If I had a scorecard, I would put 1st and 3rd movies in the franchise as being great, 2nd and 4th being mediocre. I will say the ending redeemed it in our eyes, it being reminiscent of the earlier movies, but we found it to be a little too cliched and hokey most of the time. I could give you specific examples, but what's the point! Could be that it seems she and I seem to have a harder and harder time watching mainstream movies these days as we are watching more foreign movies and documentaries. |
Subject: RE: BS: Anyone else seen the new Indiana Jones? From: Wesley S Date: 16 Jun 08 - 11:05 AM And can you imagine that Tom Selleck was supposed to be the original Indiana Jones but couldn't get a release from his Magnum PI contract? I'll bet he's still pissed off about losing that one. |
Subject: RE: BS: Anyone else seen the new Indiana Jones? From: WFDU - Ron Olesko Date: 16 Jun 08 - 10:05 AM I noticed in the scene in the Nevada desert when Indy was running through the backyards of the mockup homes that there was a slip-an-slide, which did not come out until 1961. Front disc brakes and inappropriate childrens toys - what kind of crap are they trying to make us swallow??? |
Subject: RE: BS: Anyone else seen the new Indiana Jones? From: Polite Guest Date: 16 Jun 08 - 05:31 AM OK, I fully admit to not concentrating on the disc brakes. HOW could I have missed that? Ah well, maybe I should check that out and go watch Harriso....I mean the film, again. Hell, it's gonna be tough, but someone oughta to check this. ;-) |
Subject: RE: BS: Anyone else seen the new Indiana Jones? From: GUEST,Itsallinthedetail Date: 16 Jun 08 - 05:18 AM Re the "vintage" Harley, the one used in the film front disc brakes, not common on bikes until the 70`s and unheard of in the 50`s on a bike. |
Subject: RE: BS: Anyone else seen the new Indiana Jones? From: Polite Guest Date: 16 Jun 08 - 04:07 AM Although, having just checked his age, almost 66, as from this year, he's nearer to 70 than 60, so that opens up a whole other generation as well. :-) :-) |
Subject: RE: BS: Anyone else seen the new Indiana Jones? From: Polite Guest Date: 16 Jun 08 - 04:05 AM From Mark: "INDIANA JONES AND THE PERILS OF AGE!" Not at all, Mark. I watched it throughout thinking 'Heck, but men in their 60s are so sexy!" :-) |
Subject: RE: BS: Anyone else seen the new Indiana Jones? From: Liz the Squeak Date: 16 Jun 08 - 03:13 AM Doc John - the photo wasn't James Bond, but Henry Jones Snr, Indie's dad - a lovely little 'family' touch along with the portrait and statue of Marcus Brodie (Denholm Elliot). I think it was there to signify the passing of time, the (possible?) death of Henry Snr and to provide a link to the previous film. If you watched carefully, as in the previous films, there were references to the Ark of the Covenant and other adventures. LTS |

Subject: RE: BS: Anyone else seen the new Indiana Jones? From: Gulliver Date: 15 Jun 08 - 07:45 AM Saw it last night. Great action, but very similar to previous Indiana Jones. If that's your thing, well worth seeing. Don |
Subject: RE: BS: Anyone else seen the new Indiana Jones? From: JohnInKansas Date: 15 Jun 08 - 07:29 AM We saw it at the local multiplex theater, at a late night showing. We were the only two people in the theater. Unfortunately, they provided sound for a full seating capacity crowd of about 300, so it was "uncomfortable" until nerve deadness set in; but the movie was altogether enjoyable. I'd have been happier with "plot development" more like the earlier movies (yes, there was some - you just don't remember it) even at some sacrifice to the "special effects" scenes. The great chase was spectacularly played out, and for modern audiences I suppose that's supposed to "make the movie." I'm just too much the old fogie, perhaps. (And it did tick me off that they changed the hat - subtly but noticeably to the headwear connoisseur. Must have been different costume support.) John |
Subject: RE: BS: Anyone else seen the new Indiana Jones? From: Doc John Date: 15 Jun 08 - 05:38 AM Same old stuff but who cares - it's great stuff with plenty of humour. Anything with Cate Blanchett suits me! Odd to see a photo of James Bond Doc John |
Subject: RE: BS: Anyone else seen the new Indiana Jones? From: jacqui.c Date: 14 Jun 08 - 07:18 AM I don't think that they will end it there - it seemed to be set up for further episodes. If that's so I hope that they keep up the quality. |
Subject: RE: BS: Anyone else seen the new Indiana Jones? From: Little Hawk Date: 13 Jun 08 - 06:57 PM I saw it a few days ago. Great movie! It made a worthy wrap-up to the series, I think. Cate Blanchett was marvelous, as always. What a hoot! Boris and Natasha would have been very, very impressed. |
Subject: RE: BS: Anyone else seen the new Indiana Jones? From: jacqui.c Date: 13 Jun 08 - 06:51 PM Can't remember seeing any tattoos on the lads in the film. Probably a misdirected post that wandered away from its true home. |

Subject: RE: BS: Anyone else seen the new Indiana Jones? From: GUEST,Arkie Date: 31 May 08 - 10:25 AM It was what I expected from an Indiana Jones movie and I enjoyed it for what it was. It did look like a passing of the torch. |

Subject: RE: BS: Anyone else seen the new Indiana Jones? From: GUEST,Dani Date: 31 May 08 - 07:27 AM We thought it was terrific fun, really the right spirit. Nice that they are setting up Shia for a new generation of Indy fans! Harrison Ford rocks. There were, of course, some great lines, my favorite being: "...part-time". Dani |
Subject: RE: BS: Anyone else seen the new Indiana Jones? From: Cllr Date: 31 May 08 - 07:27 AM we saw it last night, and i would agree with LTS that i is great for fans but doesnt really add to the genre, I understand that the next film is already underway with Shia as lead, I will go and see that as well, although the highlight for me was the previews adds for the kungfoo panda film voiced by jack black and Hancock with Will Smith both looked excellent. Subject: RE: BS: Anyone else seen the new Indiana Jones? From: jacqui.c Date: 31 May 08 - 07:17 AM I took Lewis to see it on Thursday in an almost empty cinema (the 3.00pm showing) We both loved it - he sat enthralled right the way through. I liked the fact that they didn't try to make Ford younger and that he was made to feel his age in certain scenes. It was good to have Karen Allen back - she has so much more of a character than the females in the later films. We now know what happened to their relationship after the end of Ark. It was also good that they gave tribute to Denholm Elliot - he was a good character in the earlier films. I must admit that tidying it all up at the end was a little trite, but I reckon that, given the circumstances, they felt that they morally had to go that route. I could see a sequel with Shia LeBeouf as the main character. |
Subject: RE: BS: Anyone else seen the new Indiana Jones? From: Becca72 Date: 31 May 08 - 06:59 AM I saw it last Monday (Memorial Day here in the States) and loved it. Harrison Ford, Steven Spielberg and George Lucas combined on a film can do no wrong in my eyes. |
Subject: RE: BS: Anyone else seen the new Indiana Jones? From: Joe Offer Date: 31 May 08 - 04:17 AM We quit school early and saw it Thursday. It's the end of the school year, time for a little fun. And yes, the movie was lots of fun. Nice to see Karen Allen back in the cast as Marion. -Joe- |
Subject: RE: BS: Anyone else seen the new Indiana Jones? From: Rasener Date: 31 May 08 - 04:09 AM Yep We saw it on May 26th. We enjoyed it immensly. Well worth seeing. The cinema was full, I would think at least 300 people for that sitting. |
Subject: BS: Anyone else seen the new Indiana Jones? From: Liz the Squeak Date: 31 May 08 - 03:15 AM Manitas, Limpit and I went to see 'Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull' last night... it's a hoot! There are a few creaky parts - including Harrison Fords' hip joints, but some great action, an old flame, a nutty professor and a few fantastic homages to icons of the time. Americans of a certain age will be trembling anew... It was a little pedestrian to begin with, but it soon warmed up into a true Indy lark. There's a whole 12 years that's only alluded to by comments about his 'war record' but it gives the impression that he, like John Wayne, won it single handedly. It takes a while but the old enthusiasm (giddy as a schoolboy!) starts to shine through and he's off on the hunt again. I felt that although it had been rationally (!) thought out, the plot faltered at the penultimate hurdle and was disappointed that they could think of no more original conclusion than the one they had. The final scenes leave the way open for more, although I personally think Harrison Ford was looking and feeling his age! There are also some touching tributes to Denholm Elliot, the actor who played Marcus Brody in the previous films, who died in 1992. Oddly enough, today (31 May) would have been his 86th birthday. On the whole, a great film for any Indiana Jones fan, but not one for the serious movie goer. Anyone else seen it yet? LTS |
