This song is spreading like wildfire around the football forums I frequent, where the Hillsborough Disaster and the Sun's disgusting coverage of that disaster is still a very raw issue. Billy Bragg has caught the mood of the moment brilliantly.

This is possibly a song with a short shelf life and it deserves a wider audience. Billy Bragg has made the MP3 freely available, so I don't think he'd object to publication of the lyrics here. These are the words as I heard them on YouTube. Feel free to correct if necessary.

Never Buy the Sun, was written in the wake of the News of the World hacking scandal.
It also refers to the Sun's sales in Liverpool, which never recovered after its coverage of the 1989 Hillsborough stadium disaster

Billy Bragg, who is appearing at the Tolpuddle Martyrs Trade Union Festival in Dorset on Sunday 17th July, said

"Over the past few years, any expression of social solidarity has been scorned - from the new activism of the climate camps and UK Uncut to the more traditional campaigns of the unions - but by sticking to their guns, the people of Liverpool have been vindicated in their principled stand against News International."
