Subject: RE: Obit: RIP Natalie Cole (1950-2015) From: GUEST,Clive Pownceby Date: 02 Jan 16 - 05:25 AM A quality singer for sure and quite apart from the big songs, I always loved her 'Pink Cadillac' period. She will be greatly missed;I'll be playing her music today and always, remembering her with fondness. |

Subject: RE: Obit: RIP Natalie Cole - 31 Dec 2015 From: GUEST,Lou Judson Date: 01 Jan 16 - 07:46 PM So sad - she is exactly my age! But reading that obit/bio, I am still and always amazed at how so many talented and seemingly brilliant people succumb to drug addiction. I existed in a drug subculture from age 18 or so, but knew when to get out, before I was 20. Is it because success and riches allow extreme excess? I don't know, but I have to think that drug use is somewhat equated to intelligence, or lack thereof - but getting over it and getting clean is a great success! We'll miss you. RIP. |

Subject: Obit: RIP Natalie Cole - Jan 1, 2016 From: GUEST,Phil d'Conch Date: 01 Jan 16 - 06:04 PM "She returned to the classic standards associated with her father in the 1990s, telling the Associated Press, she had to "throw out every R&B lick that I had ever learned and every pop trick I had ever learned". "I didn't shed really any real tears until the album was over,'" Cole said. "Then I cried a whole lot. "When we started the project, it was a way of reconnecting with my dad. Then when we did the last song, I had to say goodbye again." http://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-35210812 Goodbye Natalie, and thank you for reconnecting a generation with your Dad's music. RIP |
