Subject: RE: Obit: Koko the Gorilla From: Senoufou Date: 23 Jun 18 - 02:11 PM I wish I could be resurrected through cloning and given a new set of teeth! (and maybe a slimmer, trimmer new figure too!) |
Subject: RE: Obit: Koko the Gorilla From: Little Hawk Date: 23 Jun 18 - 12:14 PM Yes, the Greys could have used Shane McBride that way, but they didn't, because they are not cruel. Instead they resurrected him through cloning, gave him a brand new set of teeth, and released him back to the wilds of Blind River, which was the compassionate thing to do. |
Subject: RE: Obit: Koko the Gorilla From: Senoufou Date: 23 Jun 18 - 03:31 AM I've read an article about Koko, and her story is very sad. She indicated frequently that she wanted to be a mother and was lonely for her own kind. She 'mothered' a kitten, until the little cat objected to the constant cuddling. I think she'd have been better off in a place like Monkey World in Dorset UK, where rescued primates unsuitable for release into the wild are kept in huge, natural enclosures with their own species in carefully monitored groups. They have enormous climbing facilities and their life is as natural as possible. No animal should be viewed as material for an 'experiment'. It seems to me she was just an instrument whereby one could test the capacity of an ape to understand language and communication. That's cruel. |
Subject: RE: Obit: Koko the Gorilla From: Little Hawk Date: 22 Jun 18 - 08:41 PM Hello, Senoufou, how goes it? **** Donuel, Bonzo was a primate, yes, a Chimp with an illustrious career in Hollywood. He tried to teach Ronald Reagan how to act, but without much success. |
Subject: RE: Obit: Koko the Gorilla From: ChanteyLass Date: 22 Jun 18 - 08:15 PM I wish I could have met Koko. I think I know the sign for crying. |

Subject: RE: Obit: Koko the Gorilla From: Little Hawk Date: 22 Jun 18 - 11:34 AM Chongo has, of course, taken note of this as he does of the passing of any well known fellow primate. There will be a memorial gathering of apes and monkeys at Duffy's Bar in Chicago tonight and going into the wee hours of Saturday morning. Speeches will be made. Liquor will be consumed. Tears will be shed. Heads may get busted. We'll see. |
Subject: RE: Obit: Koko the Gorilla From: Stilly River Sage Date: 21 Jun 18 - 10:01 PM Koko's favorite celebrity was Mr. Rogers, whose program she watched frequently. She was taken to visit him, and in his stage house she removed his shoes - because that is what he would always do when he arrived each day. There are a couple of videos of the two on YouTube. |
Subject: RE: Obit: Koko the Gorilla From: GUEST,keberoxu Date: 21 Jun 18 - 06:54 PM The photo of Koko face to face with a blonde human is seared on my memory. Hope she rests in peace. |
Subject: RE: Obit: Koko the Gorilla From: maeve Date: 21 Jun 18 - 06:49 PM Hi, Amos. Koko was an amazing gorilla who continued to expand human understanding of communication between species, the definition of and nuance of language, and compassion. I am grateful for her life. Regards, Maeve |
Subject: Obit: Koko the Gorilla From: Amos Date: 21 Jun 18 - 06:29 PM I am heartbroken to report that the renowned Koko has passed away. She only wanted one thing in life, which was to marry Big Mick Lane, but he would not entertain her suit. Some say she died of a broken heart, while others say of sorrow. At least Big Mick can stop running, now. |
