Subject: RE: Songs about Smashed Avocados From: LittleMusgrove Date: 21 Jul 23 - 08:46 AM There are songs BY Smashing Pumpkins. Is that of any use? |
Subject: RE: Songs about Smashed Avocados From: Richard Mellish Date: 16 Jul 23 - 05:03 PM This probably ought to be below the line; but on the subject of smashed avocado see this question on YouTube. |
Subject: RE: Songs about Smashed Avocados From: GUEST,Rob Mad Jock Wright Date: 15 Jul 23 - 02:51 PM Award winning song ‘Facebook ‘ by Angie Wright mentions avocado tart recipe. Search to listen to the song. ?? |
Subject: RE: Songs about Smashed Avocados From: Black belt caterpillar wrestler Date: 14 Jul 23 - 06:11 AM Could be used as a subject for a song along with marmite as foodstuffs that have love/hate bodies of opinion? Robin |
Subject: RE: Songs about Smashed Avocados From: Dave the Gnome Date: 14 Jul 23 - 03:21 AM I have just discovered that Marks and Spencers avocados are much better than Morrisons ones. My middle class indoctrination is complete! :-D |
Subject: RE: Songs about Smashed Avocados From: Dave the Gnome Date: 16 May 23 - 04:59 PM Me too Howard! |
Subject: RE: Songs about Smashed Avocados From: Howard Kaplan Date: 16 May 23 - 12:33 PM Since "guacamole" is sometimes pronounced as if the first syllable were "whock", I tend to conflate guacamole with whack-a-mole. |
Subject: RE: Songs about Smashed Avocados From: Joe Offer Date: 15 May 23 - 06:37 PM The environmental impact of growing avocados is a concern - especially here in California, but there are ways to reduce that impact. https://greenly.earth/en-us/blog/ecology-news/what-is-the-avocados-environmental-impact |
Subject: RE: Songs about Smashed Avocados From: gillymor Date: 15 May 23 - 06:32 PM How are Things in Guacamole- apologies to Yip Harburg. |
Subject: RE: Songs about Smashed Avocados From: Steve Shaw Date: 15 May 23 - 06:02 PM Whilst enjoying the levity in this esteemed thread, and not at all wishing to sound like the party pooper (and speaking as a passionate avocado eater), I should point out that avocados represent one of the most environmentally unfriendly crops on earth, right up there with Californian almonds and Amazon palm oil. There's almost nothing to redeem them (except that they're delicious). Perhaps any song about smashed avocados (or any other manifestation of avocados) should be a protest song... |
Subject: RE: Songs about Smashed Avocados From: Helen Date: 15 May 23 - 04:28 PM I can imagine Mic Conway of Captain Matchbox Whoopee Band fame writing a good song about smashed avos. Maybe something like, doing the avocado rag, or in the style of Tom Lehrer's Masochism Tango, which the Whoopee Band used to perform. |
Subject: RE: Songs about Smashed Avocados From: Long Firm Freddie Date: 15 May 23 - 03:09 PM Smashed Avocado Stratocaster What else would you accompany a song about smashed avocado on? LFF |
Subject: RE: Songs about Smashed Avocados From: Helen Date: 15 May 23 - 02:47 PM A short opinion piece with a counter argument to the original smashed avocado comment which proposed that young people can't afford to buy into the housing market because they spend their money on smashed avocado and coffee: Why 'The Smashed Avocado'? For the original context here is a BBC article about Bernard Salt who made the contentious comment in 2016: How row over mashed avocado toast is dividing Australian generations (Published 18 October 2016) |
Subject: RE: Songs about Smashed Avocados From: Dave the Gnome Date: 15 May 23 - 02:04 PM Perfect Joe :-D |
Subject: RE: Songs about Smashed Avocados From: Joe Offer Date: 15 May 23 - 01:13 PM To "Guantanamera": Smashed Avocado I tell you, Smashed Avocado Smashed Avocado It makes a good guacamole |
Subject: RE: Smashed Avocados From: Dave the Gnome Date: 15 May 23 - 12:52 PM Cado. Avacaa-aado Smash 'em and put 'em to-oast |
Subject: RE: Smashed Avocados From: Stilly River Sage Date: 15 May 23 - 11:43 AM I was trying to make it fit "Day-o" and it wasn't going. :) |
Subject: RE: Smashed Avocados From: Dave the Gnome Date: 15 May 23 - 06:56 AM BTW - The term "smashed avacado" fits nicely to Guantanamera :-D |
Subject: RE: Smashed Avocados From: Long Firm Freddie Date: 15 May 23 - 06:48 AM The Wiggles singing about Smashed Avocado LFF |
Subject: RE: Smashed Avocados From: Dave the Gnome Date: 15 May 23 - 06:47 AM Does this start a new trend above the line? Talk about anything you like as long as you ask for a song about it! :-D |
Subject: RE: Smashed Avocados From: Steve Shaw Date: 15 May 23 - 06:36 AM By the way, and it's an odd thing, but Italians hardly ever use avocados in their cuisine. They do have a lot of good songs though. |
Subject: RE: Smashed Avocados From: Steve Shaw Date: 15 May 23 - 06:27 AM Thinly slice two avocados and two mozzarella balls. Arrange the slices neatly in a serving dish. Halve a big handful of cherry tomatoes (quality paramount) and scatter them on top. Dribble your finest extra virgin olive oil over it all, grate some black pepper over and tear some baby basil leaves on top. You have the colours of the Italian flag and enough lovely grub for two, nowt else needed. Then (to stay on topic) write a song to eulogise about it. |
Subject: RE: Smashed Avocados From: Helen Date: 15 May 23 - 04:47 AM No, a bit of olive oil, lemon juice and salt - amazing! |
Subject: RE: Smashed Avocados From: Hagman Date: 15 May 23 - 04:32 AM It should also be noted that the phrase "smashed avo," now part of the vernacular, was an Aussie invention. Now an integral menu item at every reasonably up-market breakfast venue from Hobart to Cape York, and all westerly directions. (As far as taste goes, for me, Helen, it may be "healthy," but it's definitely "boring.") |
Subject: RE: Smashed Avocados From: Helen Date: 15 May 23 - 03:44 AM Yes, healthy fats. And not just healthy but boring. Healthy and yummy! A match made in heaven. :-D |
Subject: RE: Smashed Avocados From: GUEST,RJM Date: 15 May 23 - 03:28 AM very healthy, apparently |
Subject: RE: Smashed Avocados From: Helen Date: 15 May 23 - 03:21 AM BTW, in case the reference to smashed avos relates to people who pay for it at cafes and by implication, are rich enough afford to pay other people to smash their avos for them, I make the breakfast toast sensation myself. LOL. And avos in Oz are very cheap lately due to the ups and downs of weather patterns over the last few years. |
Subject: RE: Smashed Avocados From: Helen Date: 15 May 23 - 03:14 AM No but avocados served any way are super yummy, even cake, ice cream, and the usual guacamole, etc so bring on the songs, I say! My fave breakfast is avocado, bacon and tomato on toast. |
Subject: Smashed Avocados From: GUEST,RJM Date: 15 May 23 - 02:47 AM Anyone know any songs on this subject? |
