Subject: RE: Festival Of The Sea, San Francisco From: Peter Kasin Date: 27 Jul 00 - 11:56 PM 'Spaw, if you can perform like "this guy" we will pay for your plane ticket, food, lodging, new home in San Francisco, lifetime season tickets to the Giants, 49ers, San Francisco Symphony, Opera, Ballet, a lifetime cable car pass, membership in the Bohemian Club, Hibernian Club, Sons Of Italy, Knights Of Columbus, Elks, Moose Lodge, St. Francis Yacht Club, International Order Of Odd Fellows, Masonic Lodge, Golden Gate Tip Toppers Tall Club Of SF, gift certificates for City Lights Books, Crazy Eddie's Antiques, Clown Alley Burgers, Max's Opera Cafe, Fog City Diner, Gold Dust Lounge, Pacific Cafe, El Taco Loco, and a key to the city! You could make a million hiring yourself out to the police department for crowd control, could open a restaurant called "The Gas Station" - think of the possibilities. But really 'Spaw, if you think there's any possibility at all of a vacation out here around that week, it would be a ga....it would be great to meet you, and I think you and your family would have a great time at the festival. I'm sure we can find one of the local 'Catters to put you up for the week. Look for that thread about a West Coast gathering. I'm going to post it now. Best, -chanteyranger |
Subject: RE: Festival Of The Sea, San Francisco From: Elise Date: 27 Jul 00 - 06:06 PM Funny thing, Sean put up the blue clicky for the web-site, but he didn't actually READ the info on the site! Tells all about chanteys that night. We're working on Sean to come up for it. I've already offered a place to stay and transport to the festival. Just got to find him a ride from So. Cal. Anyone? |
Subject: RE: Festival Of The Sea, San Francisco From: catspaw49 Date: 27 Jul 00 - 04:09 PM Okay chantey, ol bud.............If I volunteer and even perform like this guy, will you send me a plane ticket and put me up and feed me and provide transport around town and..........well, you get the idea. I would love to be there. When you meet Joe Offer, have Pam plant a big, slobbery kiss on the lad. BTW, that guy above stole his act from El Swanno. Spaw |

Subject: RE: Festival Of The Sea, San Francisco From: SeanM Date: 27 Jul 00 - 12:57 PM Elise.... Do you REALLY want me to answer that? REALLY? In any case, once again, the Festival is a wonderful experience... JUST IN CASE I make it, will there be an evening chantey sing as well? M

Subject: RE: Festival Of The Sea, San Francisco From: Elise Date: 27 Jul 00 - 01:28 AM Susan, I would never sing something as raunchy and disgusting as the Good Ship Venus. Just ask my friends, I'm sure they'll back me up. Right guys? C'mon, I'm counting on you, here. I'm as pure as the driven snow, right? (BTW, Susan, it's Elise, Elsie's a cow) |
Subject: RE: Festival Of The Sea, San Francisco From: Joe Offer Date: 26 Jul 00 - 10:34 PM It's a deal, Richard. Thanks a lot. -Joe- |
Subject: RE: Festival Of The Sea, San Francisco From: Susan A-R Date: 26 Jul 00 - 10:29 PM Rats!! I'm on the wrong coast, and have a music rehearsal all weekend, or I'd look for cheap tickets. I'll be thinking of all of you, Peter, Pam, Dave, Riggie, et al. (Elsie, did YOU sing On the Good Ship Venus?????) Joe, get down there and have a blast!! Susan A-R |

Subject: RE: Festival Of The Sea, San Francisco From: GUEST,Elise Date: 26 Jul 00 - 11:59 AM Hi Melani and Sean, etc. Who else would it be? How many Elises do you know that sing naughty songs? Oh, I mean chanteys. I may have to register, as soon as time presents itself. Gotta run to work now, then dance class, then maybe sleep before hitting the road to L.A. |

Subject: RE: Festival Of The Sea, San Francisco From: GUEST,Elise Date: 26 Jul 00 - 12:59 AM I'll be there with bells on (not literally, I don't do morris). Need volunteers? Call me. |
Subject: RE: Festival Of The Sea, San Francisco From: Dave Swan Date: 26 Jul 00 - 12:21 AM What the old chanteyranger isn't saying here is that he's the chanteyranger-big-wheel-in-charge-of-the-music at this shindig, and he puts on a helluva show. My band of idiots aside, there's really some talent lined up. You won't be sorry you attended this event. Hey Joe, let's have a beer or grab a meal or something. Cheers, Dave |
Subject: RE: Festival Of The Sea, San Francisco From: SeanM Date: 25 Jul 00 - 08:46 PM Sadly, looks like it's not to be... I've got too many other things happening, and can't afford to take the time off to get up there... 400 miles is just a few too many this year. M |
Subject: RE: Festival Of The Sea, San Francisco From: GUEST,chanteyranger, from work Date: 25 Jul 00 - 08:17 PM Great idea on the West Coast Mudcat gathering! Joe, could you leave me your phone number in a personal message? Why don't we bat some ideas around and then start another thread about this gathering. Hope you can make it this year as well, Sean M. -chanteyranger |
Subject: RE: Festival Of The Sea, San Francisco From: SeanM Date: 25 Jul 00 - 04:56 PM Last year's was a lot of fun. I unfortunately only made it out on Sunday (and I had to ditch out on another event I was supposed to be at in order to make it). There were wonderful shanteymen and women, some great bands, a great book sale, and demonstrators for various nautical crafts and trades... Highly recommended! Here's the website: http://www.nps.gov/safr/festival.html M |

I've been meaning to go to this festival for years, but I've always been concerned about lodging and parking. Maybe I should take the train. -Joe Offer- |
