Subject: RE: Lyr Req: I Vow To Thee, My Country From: Liz the Squeak Date: 19 Oct 00 - 07:23 PM The tune in the hymn book is just called Thaxted - a small village in Essex, and you can hear a rendition of it if you can get the BBC, on Remembrance Sunday, Songs of Praise.... watch out for a short person with spikes in her hair, singing this with fervour, and a hand over her heart - nothing whatsoever to do with the Princess of Wales. LTS - as seen on T.V..... shortly! |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: I Vow To Thee, My Country From: Mary in Kentucky Date: 19 Oct 00 - 05:17 PM It's the melody in Gustav Holst's Jupiter. It was sung at Diana's wedding and funeral. You can hear the hymn at the Cyber Hymnal, and you can hear Holst's Planets, Jupiter at The Classical Midi Connection. (You have to fast forward about 3 1/2 minutes to get to the familiar part.) |

Subject: I Vow To Thee, My Country From: GUEST,Bethel Date: 19 Oct 00 - 03:55 PM I am looking for the lyrics to "I Vow To Thee, My Country". I heard it on Charlotte Church's first album "Voice of an Angel" but can't quite make out the words. It is credited to Gustav Holst. Any background would be great too. Thanks in advance! Bethel |
