as mentioned above, the change to processed dog food was the culprit. about six months ago i changed my rotti's diet from that stuff to raw meaty bones and raw vegetables. the 'bullets' are now white and crumble away quickly, don't smell and there are a lot less of them!

Did I miss a joke or?? Gullible appears in Webster's Collegiate and also in the OED (spelling gullable preferred but both given). First appeared in print in 1818 according to both.
With so many people scooping poop when they walk their dogs, well-aged doggy-doo has gone the way of the doo doo bird.

Me too! Maybe I haven't seen it around because I haven't been walking around looking for it.

No, in fact, it was in the front yard of my Dad's place - in a leafy suburb where maybe people still feed their dogs leftovers and bones. I'll have to walk around with my eyes downcast in my own suburb and do a doggy-do count.

When I was in the last year of primary school (1966) a boy who had always lived in the same street as me suddenly developed a crush on me. He stopped me when I was walking home with my sister and my friend and wanted me to kiss him. I refused - politely - mainly because he was just someone I had never thought of (and could never think of) as a potential boyfriend.

When he realised that "No" really meant "No" he leaned over and picked up a piece of white doggy doo near his feet and rubbed it on my mouth.

A really good pick-up tactic! Not!

Needless to say, it still didn't convince me to want to kiss him.

Does anyone remember the Blaster Bates story about white "dog doos"? He was an freelance explosives expert in the UK ( 50s-60s) and was called out once by the police as a householder had found some " white sticks" in the coal, and they thought it was "unexploded gelignite" he had already picked it up when he saw the family's Great Dane!!!!

Yea, but if you just leave it lay, it turns white. I assumed this was what he was talking about. Most of us carry plastic bags in our pockets and when PuppyDear dumps in public, we pick it up and put it in the nearest dust bin. Not all of us, just a lot of us..........

In victorian times , white doggy-doo was known as 'pure' and commanded a price. Coz of all the calcium in it I suppose. I think it was used in tanning or somesuch. Anyway, they used to be people who made a living collecting it.

Paul and Dry Bones, it brings back memories. No fancy dog foods in those days. Leftovers and bones and the occasional cat. And compare the meats today- cuts with bone were much more common then. (Sorcha must be a spring chicken- now whatever happened to phrases like that?)

Bones Paul Bones, Years ago in my area dogs were given Bones, Dog Food in tins was way in the future. So the poor oul dogs existed on any scraps that were available and that old stand-by the Bone staved off the beasts hunger. Thus the Cement like issuse which poor oul Fido depoisted was the remains of the bone. Dry Bones.
