Subject: RE: Songs about domestic pets From: Moira Cameron, moirakc@internorth.com Date: 21 Jan 97 - 03:15 AM I really love Data's "Ode to Spot" on Star Trek, Next Generation. I think it's good as a recitation, or perhaps as a Gregorian Chant? |
Subject: Lyr Add: THROW YOUR CAT AWAY (Jan Hobson)^^^ From: raredance@aol.com Date: 16 Jan 97 - 09:26 PM THROW YOUR CAT AWAY recorded by Jan Hobson and Her Bad Review Your cat thinks he's worth a million bucks, but he's not even worth five cents. A can of cat food costs more than that so throw your cat away. Throw your cat away. Drop him in the trash. You know he isn't worth five cents total, so throw your cat away. Your cat has fleas but that is all. He hasn't got a brain. He cannot bark or think or spell so throw your cat away. Throw your cat away. He was just a bad investment. Nobody wants him, not even you, so throw your cat away. He wrecks the couch. He scratches your friends. He refuses to catch a mouse. He's sure not expecting it, so grab him by the tail and throw your cat away. Oh, throw your cat away. Flush him down the toilet. Don't spend another dime to mask his smell, just throw your cat away. He won't come when you call him. He won't eat his food. He just gags up his fur. He barfs in the corner and looks real smug, so throw your cat away. Oh, throw your cat away. Boot him down the steps. Give all his toys to your faithful dog and throw your cat away. He climbs up thing he can't get down. He messes up your cat box. He has nine lives and that's too many, so throw your cat away. Oh, throw your cat away. Don't give him time to pack. He's not worth the fur he's printed on, so throw your cat away. Oh, throw your cat away. It's very easy for you to do. Just open the garbage and dump him in, and throw your cat away. rich r |

Subject: RE: Songs about domestic pets From: Date: 13 Jan 97 - 01:05 PM What about "BINGO"? And Stephen Foster's "OLD DOG TRAY"? And "MY DOG'S BIGGER THAN YOUR DOG" (which is by either Tom Glazer or Tom Paxton, but not Tom Hood, and was later used in a Ken-L-Ration commercial)? And "OLD BLUE": "I had an old dog And his name was Blue, And I bet you five dollars he's a good dog too. Oh there's very few Dogs like my Old Blue." And let's not forget one that's not a folksong at all: "Ben", as performed by Michael Jackson.

Subject: RE: Songs about domestic pets From: raredance@aol.com Date: 12 Jan 97 - 10:56 PM In case you all are still looking, How about "Nero My Dog Has Fleas" to the tune of Nearer My God To Thee. There is also Jan Hobson's "THROW YOUR CAT AWAY". I have words to both somewhere if they are still wanted. In addition, Garrison Keillor has recorded an entire album called Songs Of The Cat which has too many parodies to list here. I can photocopy the lyrics to the original requester if they send me an e-mail rich r |

Subject: Lyr Add: F.A.P.: FELINE AMERICAN PRINCESS (Lackey) From: Gary Jensen Date: 21 Nov 96 - 11:01 AM There's a song written by Mercedes Lackey and Leslie Fish, Copyright Firebird Arts and Music, Inc., probably, submitted without permission. F.A.P. (FELINE AMERICAN PRINCESS) As recorded by Mercedes Lackey on "Magic, Moondust, & Melancholy"
Aren't I kind to allow you to live in my house?
I will carefully shed just selected dark hair
If you try to insist that I live on dry food,
I really don't understand why you should look
Or just when you're maddest at something I've done, - - - * Roll the R's to suggest a purr. |
Subject: RE: Songs about domestic pets From: jenner@gpo.sonnet.co.uk Date: 26 Oct 96 - 12:54 PM Thanks Dick, I've done that. I'm trying to get specific 'pet' type songs, largely but not exclusively humorous- in the vein of Eric Bogle's "HE'S NOBODY'S MOGGY NOW" or Bernard Bolan's "BASINGSTOKE". With kind regards, Doug Jenner |
