Hoping tho be there. As MARINER said, last year was great - and with wonderful weather. Being Ireland, the quality of the singing is likely to be more reliable than the weather.

Regards

Thanks, Liam's Brother. I'll miss seeing you at Mystic, but what a great time it's going to be at Cobh. My fingers are crossed for you getting permament staus at the NPS.

AKS,
Try the Lobby Bar in Cork, or the Corner House (Coberg St.)They are both in Cork City center, easy to find and in walking distance.
Have a great time!!

Couldn't any of the events perhaps be postponed until Monday/Tuesday? I (& bandmates) will be arriving in Cork City on Sunday, but late enough to miss the festival itself ;-)

AKS

ps Any suggestions for sessions in Cork Mon-Wed, Thu-Sat we'll be in Kenmare?

Hi Chanteyranger!

My understanding is that only the festival in Liverpool is timed to a particular weekend based on the tides along the Mersey and the need to open the dock gates to the river at certain times of the day. Cobh, like Mystic, could move a week in either direction depending on other considerations. All fall on the same weekend this year.

It is a nice line-up as Radriano mentions above. I am sorry to miss seeing you at Mystic this year. Good luck.

Nothing settled yet but I have been asked back to the Statue for the Summer.

Mariner, is it on the same weekend every year? Would hate to miss any Mystic year, but would love to take in this festival at some point.

Aye, last year was brilliant. The weather was warm and sunny. The singing was top rate, both in concert ,on the quayside and afterwards late at night in the Roaring Donkey. I would advise anyone who can to get there. This years line up is more extensive than last years and also has the advantage of some of last years great singers, Dan Milner , Bob Conroy, Jimmy Crowley , The Press Gang, etc. Alas no Johnnie Moynihan this time round, but ye can't have everything

So this is why Louis Killen and Dan Milner are not at Mystic this year :-). What a great lineup! Have a great time there, Liam's Brother.

Best to you and Bob,

Chanteyranger

Great, I'll be there. I've enjoyed the previous two, last years especially , just got to figure how to close the ol' museum for the weekend . Might engineer a flood or something.Or else find someone who'll work really cheap.

Irish Mudcatters and others who might be in Ireland 10 - 12 June may be interested to learn about the Cobh (Co. Cork) Maritime Song Festival.

Guests for the 2005 festival will include Liam Clancy, Louis Killen, Jimmy Crowley, The Press Gang / Warp 4, Dan Milner & Bob Conroy, Banana Boat, Jim Mageean & Johnny Collins, Baggywrinkle, storyteller Pat Speight, folklorist Tom Munnelly, and maritime artist Kenneth King. The website is Cobh Maritime Song Festival 2005.

This year's festival is dedicated to the late Cyril Tawney.
