I don't think that they are focussing on "folk people" - "Rock Island Line" is just a smashing tune giving you the impression of a fast drive - more than "Plastic Jesus" which you sooner would expect for a car ad ...

Whow - that's why it sounded so good! In Germany we can hear it with the Opel ads.

There must be a folkie somewhere in the company that makes the ads for Opel/Vauxhall. A few years ago they used a few bars of "Fiesta" by the Pogues for the Tigra...

It was definately the original version, If you go to Amazon it's on the box set for not too much cash, and theres some good recent ones on recordings available from www.LonnieDoneganinc.com.

Check out the 98 recordings with Van Morrison on the Skiffle Sessions, absolutely brilliant!

Gimme a shout if you need to know more.

Beauty of having a laptop while watching TV. No, hang on, is that sad or what...

Anyway. Just seen the new Vauxhall Astra and Tigra ad. Car is surfing with 'Rock Island Line' playing in the background. Great version. First thought - It was Lonnie Donnegan. Bit further on I wasn't sure. Anyone else seen it? Can anyone confirm who it is?

Cheers
