Subject: RE: Sorcha and Kendall Do Britain From: jacqui.c Date: 17 Apr 04 - 04:07 PM Kendall here, We didn't go to the Albert Hall, much too tired. But, we did got to a local session at the Great Eastern Pub in Hertfor Yesterday, we went to Stonehenge, today we went to Glastonbury, Avebury and Camelot. Jacqui here Thursday we went local to Hatfield House - to show Kendall that what we call 'ancient' is well over 200 years old (well, most of the other visitors were!) At the moment Kendall is trying to tune up my other guitar but there's a screw loose in my G string and we can't find it - looks like a fun evening!!! |
Subject: RE: Sorcha and Kendall Do Britain From: Midchuck Date: 17 Apr 04 - 04:28 PM Thursday we went local to Hatfield House - to show Kendall that what we call 'ancient' is well over 200 years old (well, most of the other visitors were! Someone said once that the British and Americans differ, inter alia, in that Americans think a hundred years is a long time, and the British think a hundred miles is a long distance. P. |
Subject: RE: Sorcha and Kendall Do Britain From: Stilly River Sage Date: 17 Apr 04 - 04:57 PM a loose screw and a g-string sounds like Kendall is having fun, anyway! |
Subject: RE: Sorcha and Kendall Do Britain From: fiddler Date: 17 Apr 04 - 05:53 PM WELCOME - Hope to make tomorrow evening!!! A X |
Subject: RE: Sorcha and Kendall Do Britain From: Mrs.Duck Date: 17 Apr 04 - 06:09 PM Well, Kendall my son has been down in Wiltshire this last few days visiting Stonehenge, Avebury and other such so if you saw a very tall thin boy (6' 5") it was him! |
Subject: RE: Sorcha and Kendall Do Britain From: Lanfranc Date: 17 Apr 04 - 06:53 PM Looks like being a full house tomorrow at the Black Lion! Lady Lanfranc and I hope to be there, if we survive helping out the rescue crew at a sailboat race during the day - which looks like being both wet and windy. Soggy footprints heading for the bar will indicate that we have arrived! Alan |
Subject: RE: Sorcha and Kendall Do Britain From: Catherine Jayne Date: 17 Apr 04 - 11:22 PM Wow!!! Look forward to seeing you all. Fiddler....we will phone you with directions!! |
Subject: RE: Sorcha and Kendall Do Britain From: jacqui.c Date: 18 Apr 04 - 02:29 AM Kendgall here - we had a good night's sleep and are raring to go. Keep stirring the pot! Subject: RE: Sorcha and Kendall Do Britain From: John MacKenzie Date: 18 Apr 04 - 05:14 AM Megan!! That was unkind. John |
Subject: RE: Sorcha and Kendall Do Britain From: jimmyt Date: 18 Apr 04 - 09:34 AM SOunds like everything is going about normal for a couple of colonists off to meet their ENglish cousins! Nigel, also, the $10,000 bill was another American currency with a non-president, Salmon P Chase, secretary of the Treasury in 1863. I don't have cause to see many of these bills. |
Subject: RE: Sorcha and Kendall Do Britain From: jacqui.c Date: 18 Apr 04 - 10:58 AM I don't think anything over 100 is in circulation anymore. |
Subject: RE: Sorcha and Kendall Do Britain From: Mrs.Duck Date: 18 Apr 04 - 12:20 PM What not even Kendall??:0)) |

Subject: RE: Sorcha and Kendall Do Britain From: Peace Date: 18 Apr 04 - 02:45 PM Bush will appear on the three-dollar bill. How apt. |
Subject: RE: Sorcha and Kendall Do Britain From: Liz the Squeak Date: 18 Apr 04 - 08:45 PM It was wonderful to meet both Kendall (at whose feet I fell!) and Sorcha - the evening at the Black Lion was so good, the landlord has asked for more! Kendall is one mean banjo player - and that's from someone who dislikes the banjo slightly less than the melodeon! Sorcha on the fiddle was amazing - interesting to hear the American slant on some familiar tunes. I hope the rest of the trip is as much fun as this evening was! LTS |
Subject: RE: Sorcha and Kendall Do Britain From: katlaughing Date: 18 Apr 04 - 08:59 PM Thanks to all for posting. It so fun to hear of the *peregrinations* of our countrypersons.**bg** Ya'll take care of 'em, ya hear? luvyakat |

Subject: RE: Sorcha and Kendall Do Britain From: Catherine Jayne Date: 18 Apr 04 - 09:28 PM The session was wonderful and as Liz said the landlord wants us back!! So there will be a session in the Black Lion on Sunday 25th April from 7:30pm. It was absolutely grand to see so many catters turn up to meet our American friends. After the session a number of us came back to our place and continued conversations and drinking! Pictures have been taken and will be posted soon!! Tanks again to all of you for coming. |

Somewhere about Stoney Stratford according to The One and only Dai, wherever he is these days. John |

Subject: RE: Sorcha and Kendall Do Britain From: Charley Noble Date: 19 Apr 04 - 09:45 AM More details! Cheerily, Charley Noble |

We left her sleeping in the caravan this morning - I think she needed it after Hastings over the weekend. |

Subject: RE: Sorcha and Kendall Do Britain From: Dave Bryant Date: 06 May 04 - 04:33 AM Sorcha's due to leave for Chester this afternoon. She was still asleep in the caravan when Linda and I left for work this morning - let's hope that she wakes up in time to catch her train from the local station (Mottingham). She then has to use the tube to get from Charing Cross to Euston, where she picks up her train to Chester. Enjoyed having you staying with us Sorcha - hope to see you again before you go back to the States. |
Subject: RE: Sorcha and Kendall Do Britain From: Sorcha Date: 06 May 04 - 03:45 PM Finally made it to Emma's place near Chester......only got lost on the tube once. Missed my 16:00 connecting train because there were no escalators and I had to woman handle the case up 3 flights of stairs. Caught the next train and arrived an hour late. I was able to call Emma from Crewe to tell her not to abandon me. Doing Chester town tomorrow, then I don't know. I'm having a glorious time. This country is sooooo beautiful and everyone has been just wonderful to this poor lost Yooser! Whizzy, I fly home on May 25. I'll PM you in a bit. I'll be at Emma's place a few days so should be able to pick up your reply. The Hastings Giant thing is fabulous!! Talk about a crick in my neck, LOL! |
