Hi all

Kendall is just now in Mass General awaiting another operation to open up his airway, which, despite Dr Z's best efforts, has started closing up again.

It seems that this can happen as a result of the radiation that Kendall had some years back added to the lack of real framework in the area. Dr Z says that this is a procedure that may have to be repeated occasionally for the future.

He's due to be operated on at 8.00 this morning so good thoughts would be appreciated right now.

Funny thing - he's back on the same ward and in the same room and bed as was the case when he had the major surgery earlier this year. He even has the same nurse, who greeted us both with a hug!

Yet another reason I'm so thankful that Tom avoided the suggested radiation.

Thinking about you two -- thinking about you a LOT. Hang in there (like you can do anything else).

Take advantage of the great view from Kendall's room and the patient lounge on Ellison 19 which is one of my favorite reflection and thought mustering places at Mass General.

How long will Kendall be at Mass General?

My sister just called - she heard from Jacqui and Dad's out of surgery. His breathing has improved and he wants lunch so those are good signs!

Haven't seen DR Z yet, but apparently all went well as Kendall can now breath without difficulty and can still talk. He ate all his lunch and drank a cup of coffee. The scotch will come later, when we're home, but I brought him in some of his favourite chocolate - dark chocolates Reeses Peanut Butter Cups, for later.

His throat is sore, as expected, but he is in high spirits right now, although still a bit drowsy. He had some problems with his O2 clamp, which they put on his ear, rather than his finger, so that he could type. He caught it a couple of times when scratching his head and the alarm went off, so he decided to attach it to another part of his body - I'll leave you to guess where. The poor nurse who came in to check on him didn't know what to think! anyway, it's back on his ear again....

All being well he'll be out tomorrow lunchtime.
