This is not normally my kind of thread, and I usually do get shot down when I attempt to put in my two cents worth of opinion. But for what it is worth ~~ I see absolutely no value in anyone stepping in to defend Rick or to agree with the original poster either one. Letting it drop makes the most sense to me. (there were no other posts when I started mine, but I see there are at least two more before I am ready to hit submit)

Rick is a well appreciated and valued member here. I only know him through his posts here, but I suspect that he would be the first to agree he isn't a diety. Especially since deities are essentially figments of one's imagination. (God protect me from the righteous indignation of others)*BG*

Rick is, as the guest said, a great guitar player, a fine performer and, as s/he didn't say but certainly must have implied, a fine human being... And an oldtimer. *BG*

Yeah, I think it's Rick that starts these threads when his agnosticism shows through and he stops believing in himself...

I know I'm the one that always says people shouldn't feed flamers by contributing to flame threads - but for a Fielding flame, I'll make an exception. I wonder why a nice guy like Rick gets flamed so often. Must be some broken-hearted woman who's upset that he's married. Either that, or an unmitigated idiot.

GUEST - Of course Rick Fielding is God. Everyone is God. Let me elaborate on that (as if you could stop me!).

God, by definition is infinite. Agreed? All powerful. Agreed? The infinite is by definition unlimited and inclusive of all that is, otherwise it wouldn't BE infinite. Therefore, everyone and everyTHING is God, manifesting in one sense or another. That doesn't mean that everyone KNOWS consciously that they are God, however, in fact most individual beings are utterly unaware of it. Their individuality depends on them at first being unaware of it. Unfortunately, it also has given rise to fear-based religions (which make God very small and then worship "Him" in their own peculiar fashion and persecute those who don't do it their way...)...and has caused fear-based behaviour of all kinds. Only when you realize that you are in absolute unity with all others (which is natural since all are part of God), do you give up this fearful behaviour.

Even you, dear GUEST, are God. You just don't realize it, that's all. If you did, you would not feel this resentment toward Rick Fielding, and would no doubt appreciate his unique qualities as much as you appreciate your own.

Midchuck - There is no "other guy". The "other guy" was invented in order to terrorize the common people into following some bunch of power-hungry priests around. It was a "damned" silly idea, if I can use that term. Sort of like a cosmic boogeyman to scare the kids and keep them in line...while the "big guy", religion's little "god", judges, condemns, and hands out presents like a cosmic Santa Claus. To believe in one is as silly as to believe in the other. I mean, how big can the "big guy" be, if he can't even prevent Satan, a mere "fallen angel" from leading his children astray and damning them for all eternity? How can God not be able to even manage his own creation? Not much of a "god"...this traditional god of the churches.

Now, GUEST, take a deep breath, and wonder why you started this thread. Just one more step on the road to self-realization???

Namaeson, I would say it was a troll. Guest starts it, keeps interest for a while, returning to try to stir thing up a little and then when the posts start flooding in, sits back and I guess congratualtes his/herself on starting up another time wasting excercise...

I know I have added to the posts here (and I don't always practice what I preach) but really the only way to deal with trollers is to starve them of the attention they crave and the delight they get at seeing the thread perpetuated.

While I'm here, I will pass comment on the subject though: I am quite convinced that Rick would be the first person to say that he is not God or ask to be treated as one. From what I have read of his posts, I believe he is a truely decent person and from what little I have heard of him, I believe him to be an incredibly tallented musician.
