And, "knowing" you via this community as I do, C. Ham, I'm pretty sure that you're still gonna buy Bruce's CD once he gets one produced and/or you're still gonna purchase individual songs from that CD when Bruce puts them on iTunes or another digital download site. I know I am.

Geeziz.....I hate to leave this thread like this. Except for that guy singing and all, the most of it has no content at all except for Amos being nice and then getting pissed on. But remember Amos, it's better to be pissed off than pissed on BUT its a lot better to be pissed on than pissed through.....'cause that'd make you a prick.

Just in case anyone opens this and is expecting stuff about fishing I feel obligated to tell them there doesn't seem to be any technique at all called podcasting. Just so it ain't a total loss, I'll add a few tips on Pitch Casting and Flip Casting, aka, "Pitchin' and Flippin'."

CONTENT REMOVED - 10/26/2012: A very unpleasant person at bassresource.com sent me a 3rd notice that the world was going to end or something if I didn't remove this 5 year old post without presenting a shred of evidence that it wasn't actually here first. You might as well go dig up my dead grandfather and threaten him for telling me all the same stuff in 1976. I'm sure most people reading this, most likely folk artists or fans have always noticed some guy in the audience with a tape recorder. Now digital. Personally, I know I've been taped, photographed, etc. and I never see it again. So, since this thread is about Bruce what's his name...he should not be surprised if some Rap Guy slices and dices and/or samples the podcast and strangely familar components of his songs start getting airplay in da Hood...Get up wid it...We drop da beat on dis nu groov...Dig it...LLLLLLL Last m-m-m-man standin'...Gimme da bounce... All da bruvas & sistas are droppin it..F-Rap(translation: Folk-Rap)...

Why are you laughing? Do you think I'm some kind of performer/comedian or something...?    (town-crier?)

The irony of some J-Zeeee or TimbaWand or A-kin poppin' by in a S.U.V./Hummer with $4000 chrome wheels and $20,000 stereo wearing gold chains and diamond rings after their Mega-Hit brings them boatloads of cash...I hope they at least wave while they go by the Folk Singer....

Excellent.

That is the kind of songwriting that I would gladly sacrifice a lot of things for and I hope the gig in January sparks off more positive feedback.

Conviction is a quality I don't see as much these days in a lot of the material out there; as in a lot of the performers, I may say. Maybe I'm old-fashioned (though I doubt that also), but I have said it before, and you certainly alluded to it, that you 'wear' the experiences in a song. It's a responsibility one takes on at the opening bar.

You have managed to do this...., and keep doing it over the years.

Fair play to you..., and keep going til you can't any more.
Life is short enough...

Loved the podcast and will be at the concert at Sala Rossa. I used to love your concerts at the Golem in the 70's and hope you'll still include a few songs like "Fool Like Me" along with the new ones.

I wish to thank people for their many kind remarks. I will do one or two older songs, but quite truthfully, I don't really remember them. Presently--as in the past year or so--I have been very productive in terms of new songs and they have been my focus.

I was fortunate for the gig in that Noah Zacharin will be the opening act. He is a remarkable guitar player/writer/singer, and he's agreed to back me on a few songs during one of my two sets. And, bonus of all bonuses, Ron Bankley will be doing eight or so songs with me. Both these guys are excellent guitarists, and their ability to back the song/singer/performer is second to none I've heard or worked with in the past.

I have not been on Mudcat much because it's just been too busy in preparation for this gig and Gerry's radio show. There are also a few other things on the go in Montreal at that time including some studio time and I'm looking forward to that in a big way. I am both flattered and humbled to read the things people have written here and I will do my best not to let y'all down.

Well, I was planning on going to the show anyway. So it was a great treat to be asked to bring a 6-string and add my touch to some songs. A fine way to start a new year. A Murdoch concert is always special..

No velour? Where are the shirts will frilled cuffs? No black corduroy? Obvously the photo is contrived by the grandchildren of the real thing who have never been there...( END-lisp)

There used to be this transvestite place on Peel in Montreal where I was hijacked by some "friends" to go see a show wearing one of those outfits, described above. The lead act was dressed as a Las Vegas showgirl, heels, thong(It's the same, old thong, the one you been wearin' since we've been goin' on- a song I've been working on for a while), anyway he/she was absolutely gorgeous, and was doing a magic act...
When she/he asked for a volunteer from the audience, my two friends were pointing
at me behind my back.
So me being the "FolkSwinger" that I was, and fearing no evil, went right on up there...
Whereupon he/she said to me, "look, I know you're straight, just play along." I can't stress enough how this guy had managed to transform himself into a beautiful woman, you had to see it to believe it...
Anyway, she/he pulls a rabbit out of a hat(no, really), me holding the hat with about 600 people of, how shall I put this, "alternative sexual orientation" looking on...One of the strangest sensations I've ever had...A great time...LOL. Respect to all. A fun memory.

This was just outside the time by a few years, where our BM was wearing a greenish army fatigue jacket, or woodsman's coat, and we were with Lindsay Cameron(Bless) and George Gruenfeld(Bless). I think back on those times and what a privilege it was to have known them...

And isn't it curious that The Bruce Murdoch Podcast is with us today? Think about that a minute. Any time, any place, an artist can be heard by a whole new audience...
And I really wonder if the kids of today heard Bruce's "Che Guevarra" or "Can I Come Across To You" released with the photo from 33&1/3, just what the reaction would be? You know, don't tell 'em when it was done, just here's this new singer, and lay it on 'em. I think that would be really interesting...

As a major BM fan, I'm really looking forward to the show...
