Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa Time Again! (2003) From: Rapparee Date: 08 Oct 03 - 10:04 PM Dear Secret Santa (or "Member of the SS"): The chili out here'll fuse the spaghetti, bubble the cheese, burn the beans, carmelize the onions and cause what is known as "oral flameout". Skyline is okay, Queen is better, Dixie is best, Gold Star is the pits. |

Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa Time Again! (2003) From: GUEST,Someone's Secret Santa Date: 13 Oct 03 - 02:09 PM I'm asked to mail a package to a single name, that may or may not be a real given name. The address looks complete, but the package has to go overseas. I'm not even sure if the Postal Authorities will take it, and feel less sure about safe delivery on the other end. I don't want to have to guarantee paying for return of an undeliverable package. I've had full names to mail to the past 2 years. I personally use a Mudcat name but have given my full name for SS purposes without problems. Advice please. Has anyone had experience mailing to an incomplete name in past years? |
Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa Time Again! (2003) From: Liz the Squeak Date: 14 Oct 03 - 02:15 AM Well, stuff addressed to Liz the Squeak with the postal address on has made it to me with no problem. Except that E type Jag.... but any day now I'm expecting the card through the door to tell me it's too big for my letter box and can I come and collect. Most postal systems read the address from the bottom up, starting with the post or zip code which tells everything except the number on the door. Judging by the crap we've had put through our door with our neighbours (as many as 20 doors away)names on, no one reads the names anyway. You could always address it to 'The Mudcatting Occupant' and the PO will think it's a new swear word! LTS |
Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa Time Again! (2003) From: sian, west wales Date: 14 Oct 03 - 06:58 AM I see SSS's problem. Posting stuff anymore is a real lottery - depends on which postal workers handle your stuff and how paranoid they're feeling on any particular day. I think it's worth a PM to Catsphiddle to ask her to ask the Santee for a more 'deliverable' name if Santee wants a fair chance at receiving her/his largesse this Festive Season. BTW Liz - loved your 'hint' on the other thread. Bet you crack walnuts with a pneumatic hammer too! Back on the subject of paranoia - and not wanting to drift the thread too far - our college e-mail system has been refusing e-mails to me from our National Assembly because the Subject line is notifying me of a forthcoming meeting with our Minister of Environment, Sue Essex. Took postmasters at both ends a couple of days before realizing that "esSEX" was causing the problems. Net Nannies go wild! sian |
