Subject: RE: BS: Oldude wife (prayers and thoughts) From: LilyFestre Date: 03 May 11 - 08:27 AM Hey Dan, How did it go yesterday? I hope Linda is feeling ok. I had a 3 day window of feeling just fine before the side effects started to take hold. You'll get so you can see a pattern and plan your life accordingly (or at least she will!). Give my best to Linda. Love, Michelle |

Subject: RE: BS: Oldude wife (prayers and thoughts) From: olddude Date: 03 May 11 - 10:50 PM She is crashed out, been a very long day. Of course she had to join a study also to help others in the future. So after the chemo we had to wait 4 hours for a blood draw for the study. It doesn't matter, if the research helps someone in the future it is time well spent. I guess the other treatments will only be 1 hour after treatment. She hasn't gotten sick so that is a good thing. They wack a lot of meds in ya before they hit you with the big stuff so as to prevent vomiting and such. I hope it all works.. so far today, it was ok |

Subject: RE: BS: Oldude wife (prayers and thoughts) From: olddude Date: 04 May 11 - 09:07 AM I worked 30 years with my friend Paul. He lives about a mile from me. His son Kevin was born at the same time as my youngest. We would take our kids to the park , watched him grow up to be a fine young man. Well his son was just killed in Afghanistan ... two weeks after being deployed. My heart is broken. When will this war madness end .. when will all of it end I love you |

Subject: RE: BS: Oldude wife (prayers and thoughts) From: Big Mick Date: 04 May 11 - 09:26 AM Damn , Dan. I well know how this all feels. Seems like when it comes it does it in waves. Some days will seem pretty hopeless. But one thing the last five years have taught me. If you just keep getting up, and keep putting one foot in front of the other, you will make it through. You will sing to the sun and moon again. As I have trod this long path, I used the footprints left by friends who had been here before to find my way. We are waiting on you at the other end. And thanks for your kind thoughts during my travails, friend. I echo what someone else said earlier. You are one of the truly good guys here. I am praying for you and your lovely wife. All the best, Mick |

Lately I've wished more that this was a geo village as opposed to a virtual one. If it were you'd have hundreds of folks overrunning your home because we all wish we were there. Same's true of Mick. Y'all would need a lot bigger kitchens.............. I love you Dan......As to when war ends, I haven't got a clue. Insanity tends to run rampant in this world............. Pat |

Subject: RE: BS: Oldude wife (prayers and thoughts) From: kendall Date: 21 May 11 - 02:39 PM Life should be fair. Why do bad things happen to good people? |
Subject: RE: BS: Oldude wife (prayers and thoughts) From: gnu Date: 21 May 11 - 02:49 PM Agreed Kendall. I once said that to a buddy who was under a great strain. He said that it was because good people can take it but he was thinking about turning bad if the shit kept piling up. Of course, Dan doesn't have that option... he's good to the bone. |
Subject: RE: BS: Oldude wife (prayers and thoughts) From: Jeri Date: 21 May 11 - 02:51 PM I seem to remember hearing or reading something like "life is what happens while you're waiting for something else." I wrote a stanza a while back I ought to work on some more. It's mostly about being open to finding unexpected beauty, but it works: It's not about the place you're headed |
