Robert Kennedy is saying that people need to vote early if possible, they should try to avoid provisional ballots, if possible, and they should try to vote in person instead of by mail, if possible, in order to avoid being disenfranchised...

I just voted. I usually vote early, and there are usually a bunch of lonely poll workers excited to see some one walk in. I had to actually wait in line for a minute or two today.

Thats right Carol

Kennedy advises one should REFUSE a provisional ballot.
But hs is short on telling me what the alternative is after you refuse the provisional ballot.

I am interested since it has happened to me twice.

A third time my ballot was thrown out since I voted for the PResident and Vice President since there was a box for each.
This was a trick used on many ballots and was my bad for not learning what the GOP tricks were ahead of time.

I have essentially not voted in 12 years.

I wanted to use a paper ballot, but they said that there would only be paper ballots on election day. Some choice. There was a paper readout, though, and it said what it was supposed to say, but I wish I could have had a receipt to take home with me.

What's this about not being able to vote a straight ticket? They told me to vote for pres and VP separately but they didn't say anything about the rest of the ticket having to be voted separately.

Here's another thing Kennedy recommended: Steal Back Your Vote.

My Rog is thinking through his response to the call for his signature verification. He may take a videojournalist with him from the tv station where he works. They've got one kid who does a pretty good job of going after stories and getting them, plus Rog has a lot of experience that way, too. That kid just had some footage picked up by CNN etc. of protesters being dragged off by cops the other night when Palin was here. The protesters are now part of a "criminal investigation" by the cops, even though it was the cops who were violent.

MAILING your vote is the least liekly vote to be counted.

I know that's what they are saying, now, Donuel, but for the past two years all I've heard from the Democrats and others was to use an absentee ballot to vote and if you mail it, be sure you get the correct postage, or better yet, hand-deliver it, which is what I did.

yes most ballots take 2 stamps/

your middle name must appear exactly as it did on your registration

the rules that have been invented to purge mail in votes sound like an SNL sketch

if an i is not dotted it must be an L and then it is purged for not matching.

To keep power in the hands of the few, the proud, the bigoted is not an easy task. But it is being done as we speak.

The magic is in making millions watch the ACORN scandal while the magicians purge legal votes.

TV covers ACORN all day long.
the great voter purge is covered in a very limited and obscure way in comparison. ( it certainly isn;t being called the shredding of our democracy )
I admit the Republicans have a very clever set up.

Campaigning really doesn't matter
"We've got them where we want them"

I vote absentee, but my wife prefers to go the the polls. She hand-delivers my ballot.

Don, thanks for confirming what I remembered. Those booklets (as you say, they could be large) were very handy and I read them through before voting. Now it is a crap shoot as to whether the newspaper might run something. I am glad to see the League of Women Voters site.

GUEST, Justin U. doesn't seem to have gotten the hang of what this thread is about, or understand that just because it is "below the line" that there is not a "no holds barred" attitude. I recommend he lurk for a while and post once he understands the place a little better.

Kat, taking the videographer might help, might not. Good luck trying. Folks who cheat on purpose like that often have strategies in place for covering their asses.

When I voted I had to wait for a few minutes to get in, and there were politicians and their proxies handing out materials at the edges of the boundary for political campaigning. I was disappointed to hear the woman who walked out behind me reassure the Republican judge that she had "voted a straight ticket, and you were on it." I kind of wanted to get out of there without feeling like the next idiot in line had cancelled out my vote.

Oh, well. Maybe next time.

SRS

Well, I voted by mail last week and now you all have me worried that my vote will get round-filed! Voted for Barack n Joe. AP Poll is saying it's close, but I really find that unbelievable. Hopefully, Colorado goes blue this time.

The Republicans in Colorado are disenfranchising millions of voters. So I guess whether or not Colorado goes blue will depend on whether or not the disenfranchisers (fascist democracy haters) can disenfranchise people faster than new people can register and vote.
