Subject: RE: Llanstock memories II From: Catrin Date: 21 Oct 00 - 04:58 AM Terry, I too have been 'going on' to my friends about where I was at the weekend. I know what you mean about the glazed expressions. I can see them thiking 'I never knew she was one of those computer nerds...' ' On holiday with a bunch of people she's never MET?...' 'Weird..' etc. Oh well, Roll on next year *sigh* ( Iknow I keep sighing, I can't help it, its a bit like being in love) |
Subject: RE: Llanstock memories II From: Llanfair Date: 21 Oct 00 - 05:41 AM Skipkack and Terry, you've both got boats?? Damn, my brother was going to put in an appearance on his way to Aberdovey, where his boat "Marchmain" is moored, but he had 'flu. Ah well, Next year!!! Cheers, Bron. |
Subject: RE: Llanstock memories II From: Skipjack K8 Date: 21 Oct 00 - 07:40 AM Very Brideshead, Bron. Shame he couldn't heave to for a yarn. I went to the Outward Bound Sea School in Aberdovey, sailing old whalers and Wayfarers, in 1975. Had a braw time of it. It was a bit like going to the grey green greasy Limpopo river, all set about with fever trees, as I went there a wimp, and a month later came back a brick shithouse, and spanked all my aunties and uncles. Very fond memories Skipjack |
Subject: RE: Llanstock memories II From: Lanfranc Date: 21 Oct 00 - 08:07 AM RRAATTSS!! I have just spent many jealous minutes catching up on the happenings at Llanstock. The pictures have enabled me to put faces to many Mudcat friends that I could have met. Someday soon, we must have a gathering somewhere in the SouthEast, I'll see what Micca, LtS, Morticia and co think. I should have been there - anything would have been more fun than what I was doing (Figuring out how to shut down a business that had gone pear-shaped, fire six friends and my own daughter and get out without losing Francis Towers to the Bank). One consolation is that having done all that in the past two weeks, I should now have more freedom to indulge myself musically, and probably a need to make a little money out of it. Suggestions welcome! I count myself accursed I was not there, and rouse me at the name of Llanstock! Well done, Bron!!

Subject: RE: Llanstock memories II From: Liz the Squeak Date: 21 Oct 00 - 07:33 PM Yes to the SE gathering: Skipjack, you've got the experience, want to come and pump out our cellar, which is presently under 4 inches of rainwater? LTS |
Subject: RE: Llanstock memories II From: Trevor Date: 22 Oct 00 - 10:22 AM Hiya Skipjack. I went to the Ourtward Bound Sea School on the Moray Firth in 1969 and sailed the old cutters there, which I have a hunch were moved to Aberdovey. You may have seen the dents my fingernails made on one on a filthy day up there. I sail whenever I get the opportunity now but it has to be on other people's boats, mainly deliveries, so if ever you're short of crew...... Aberdovey is my 'local', and favourite, bit of seaside and where I would like to keep a boat if I had one. I did a bit of work there as well - (I run these up-and-down-hills-and-paddling-canoe-type courses for a living) and always reckoned that the School there was the pick of the bunch. |
Subject: RE: Llanstock memories II From: Eric the Viking Date: 22 Oct 00 - 11:23 AM Hi everyone-wonderful photo's from all of you, even if I am in some of them. I can't believe it's been a week since I came home so full of the weekend. There has got to be another Llanstock sooner than next year! It was such great fun. I should be at swinton next weekend if I am lucky, so see some of you there I hope. Are the colds better? Mine is improving slowly, but I'm not so good at fighting off infections, they seem to last for ever, still i hope the first frosts of winter will help. Are there any recordings of the gathering to be had? There was some excellent music going on. Cheers. Eric |
Subject: RE: Llanstock memories II From: Llanfair Date: 22 Oct 00 - 12:07 PM Ian did the video recording, but I haven't seen it yet. I'm hoping to send a copy to Max for the radio. My cold is still STINKING, and I'm fed up with it. Trevor, you must have seen my brother's boat at Aberdovey, it's the most pretentious one there!!!!all gleaming white fibreglass, and BIG, well it would have to be, my brother's bigger than me!!!! Cheers, Bron. |

Subject: RE: Llanstock memories II From: Catrin Date: 22 Oct 00 - 04:09 PM Hey Bill!! Super idea - and I know a couple of perfect venues. Just let me know when - I can make the arrangements (i.e. warn the publican!) Cheers, Catrin |
Subject: RE: Llanstock memories II From: Noreen Date: 22 Oct 00 - 05:03 PM Sounds wonderful to me, bill\, and I'm sure there are quite a few more local(ish) catters who would be interested as well. Count me in for a SE gathering too- I've already sorted out my accommodation! :0) Noreen |
Subject: RE: Llanstock memories II From: Morticia Date: 22 Oct 00 - 05:12 PM so Noreen, if you're staying with me, I can stay with you right? |
Subject: RE: Llanstock memories II From: Catrin Date: 22 Oct 00 - 05:15 PM I've just had an idea. Its my 40th next month (22nd Nov which is a Wednesday) How about having it sometime around then, either the weekend before or after? Wotcha think folks? Cheers, Catrin |

Subject: RE: Llanstock memories II From: bill\sables Date: 22 Oct 00 - 05:31 PM I have just noticed that my birthday is on a Sunday and my kids are liable to have something in store for me so would it be possible to have it the weekend of 17-18-19 November. Cheers Bill |
Subject: RE: Llanstock memories II From: Morticia Date: 22 Oct 00 - 05:44 PM Bill , you share a birthday with my daughter who will be 19 so before or after is better for me too...... |

Subject: RE: Llanstock memories II From: Liz the Squeak Date: 22 Oct 00 - 06:26 PM As long as it doesn't clash with the bratlings school Christmas fair..... Nov 25th ish... LTS |
Subject: RE: Llanstock memories II From: Terry K Date: 23 Oct 00 - 01:28 AM So is this on then? Do you need listeners too? Cheers, Terry |
Subject: RE: Llanstock memories II From: Noreen Date: 23 Oct 00 - 03:38 AM Mais oui, cheri! Noreen |
Subject: RE: Llanstock memories II From: Noreen Date: 23 Oct 00 - 04:23 AM My photies are now also in Mudcat Resources, thanks to Pene Azul,at Llanstock part IV and part V Noreen |
Subject: RE: Llanstock memories II From: Catrin Date: 23 Oct 00 - 04:49 AM Depends how many people. If there's going to be hundreds, then probably the Ducie - which is bigger, but fairly strict on licensing laws. If there's not too many, then the JA - which, well, stops letting people in at 11 but.... I think as I type. Hmmm The JA is easy walk from Picadilly Train station so for people arriving that way, it would be ideal. It aint too big - but think how many we squashed into the front bar of your local, Bron! 17th-18th ish is fine for me. Cheers, Catrin |
Subject: RE: Llanstock memories II From: Llanfair Date: 23 Oct 00 - 11:18 AM The weekends either side would be better for me, because Jim's on call that weekend, but don't worry if that's the best for everyone else, I'll sort something out. I've sent an article to the local paper, and a couple of Micca's photos- they were the easiest to "Attach". If anyone wants a copy when it comes out, could you put your snail-mail addy in a personal message for me, please. Cheers, Bron. |
Subject: RE: Llanstock memories II From: GUEST,Patrish Date: 23 Oct 00 - 11:37 AM Hope to make it, I won't be able to let you know until next week. (fingers crossed - I couldn't bear to miss it) Patrish |
Subject: RE: Llanstock memories II From: KingBrilliant Date: 23 Oct 00 - 12:26 PM Another gathering? Aaaaah - that should sort out the Llanstock withdrawal symptoms. I'll start the persuasion manoevers straight away.... Kris |
Subject: RE: Llanstock memories II From: Eric the Viking Date: 23 Oct 00 - 01:12 PM This is going to cost me dearly I guess-some serious ear bashing plus, what about ?? and that! But I'll try my best.Bron, save a copy of the paper article for me please, will send snail ad next week in pm. Cheers everyone. |
Subject: RE: Llanstock memories II From: Skipjack K8 Date: 23 Oct 00 - 06:33 PM The soup dragon is going to go totally focking ballistic when I mention this one (or two). Self preservation might be to parachute in for one night..... (Holy sheeeet, the accordion player found out!!!!) Skipjack |
Subject: RE: Llanstock memories II From: Skipjack K8 Date: 23 Oct 00 - 07:21 PM Liz, having had a good look at yours, there's a few things I wanted to get orf me chest. 1. Waited for you as long as we could before the group photo. Really wanted you there, with the Great White and Feebs, but we had to scram sharpish. Missed me goodbye snog, too. You look so sad in your grouplet photo, or was it just as jaded as the rest of us look? 2. Lemme at yer cellar. I've got biceps like Popeye, as I pumped out the remaining ton this morning, with second son serving his 'dentures, holding the bucket! Skipjack |
Subject: RE: Llanstock memories II From: Liz the Squeak Date: 24 Oct 00 - 09:23 AM Squeaking like mad here, Skip, we were sad because a) we'd missed people, b) we had to go home c) Phoebe was being a bratling, if you look her face is screwed up, mid yell..... and d) Micca took it before we were really ready! The cellar is slowly emptying, thanks to us being on a gravel bed, and we haven't had any rain for the past 2 days..... it just smells like something died down there now.... but if you still want to come over and do some pumping, I'm sure I can find you something..... LTS |
Subject: RE: Llanstock memories II From: Jon Freeman Date: 27 Oct 00 - 09:49 PM I couldn't resist adding one more picture to my small collection of Llanstock pictures as I am sure he was with us in spirit and it was taken in Llanfair C. Jon |
Subject: RE: Llanstock memories II From: Llanfair Date: 28 Oct 00 - 05:12 AM Oh, yes, Jon, Mudguard really wanted to be here, he said. I'm glad you put that photo in. Cheers, Bron. |
Subject: RE: Llanstock memories II From: Catrin Date: 28 Oct 00 - 05:26 AM blicky for further discussions in Manchester get together. Cheers, Catrin |
