Maybe your problem is in identifying intelligent persons. A lot of Obama supporters seem to be afflicted that way.

So where do you stand on the religious right? Alongside Sarah Palin?

I'll agree, the religious right is basically non-thinking.
Maybe a better way to say it is, there's not a lot to be gained by slamming Sarah Palin. Perhaps a more constructive dialogue might be helpful.

In the scale of people bidding for influence her actual potential appears to be a great deal lower than the position requires. That merits being said as clearly as possible. Why? Because she has grabbed a lot of attention by appealing to (a) a lust for any kind of "bling" the party could possibly get and (b) the appetite of less discriminating voters for a brassy campaign of adversarial disdain, not to say hate, against other citizens. By catering to the loud, brazen, pugnacious, and unthinking segments of her party, she could gather enough momentum to capture some serious political power, despite the potential for abuse evidenced by her own ambitious, unthinking drive and her general lack of depth on issues.

To an important degree it is the duty of thinking citizens to point out why this is a bad idea for the country.

Aside from that duty, you are right, there is no virtue in bad-mouthing her excessively. She's not a harmful individual, just a very risky political figure.

The optimum path would be to leave her behind at the polls, and reunify the country around importanr issues carefully discussed and thought out.

On top of which, she has been cleared of ethics law violations.

But not ethics rule violations.

I have seen a report that said OBama was in the top 20% of his class. One report placed him #1. If either of these reports is accurate, one can safely assume he was deserving of acceptance in the school. Supposedly there are around 550 in each first year class.

Interesting (as a bystander across the pond) that there is this issue about Obama's belief's and background. Is he is Muslim? Wow that would be terrible.

But compare Sarah Palin's views and background with those of a 'typical' radical Islamist:

They both believe in doing things because God told them too

They both believe in creationism

They are both from oil rich states, and are skeptical of global warming

Neither of them believe in gun control

They both believe in reducing the power of the US Federal Government

One dislikes liberals or the other dislikes 'liberal democracy'

All seems pretty similar to me, its surprising no one has picked up on this. Of course the conclusive proof is this picture of Ms Palin wearing a headscarf...

Happy elections to all :)

Gov. Palin has been praying for victory. If she loses, does that mean God has abandoned her?

It means god doesn't exist and she has to face a new reality!

or it could mean God had other ideas or that God has left this election up to us. However, I can't imagine that God is looking kindly upon the perverse manipulation of people, the willful misrepresentation of information and the hatred with which Ms Palin and Sen. McCain campaigned.

KP we do not need to worry about Obama being a terrorist or a Muslim. If he were a Muslim, he certainly set a high standard for a Presidential campaign in this country. He had no choice in his name and it is inconceivable that a person in his position has not had some casual contact with Muslims or people who have committed crimes or in the case of Ayers, former terrorists.   Had he chosen to talk about McCain's personal choices we could have been treated to some real information about long term dealing with unscrupulous persons. McCain's long association with Bush & Cheney and his approval of their raiding the government treasury to benefit special interests is enough for me. He as much as told us he will be doing the same thing. If the country survives a while longer we may well have a Muslim president someday. That is not likely to happen at present.
